Used the 10W-30 in my Honda lawn mower and other weight oils in my various cars. Pennzoil Platinum/Ultra Platinum/Platinum High Mileage all have the lowest cold pour point of any oil, even better than Amsoil. This is due to it being made from natural gas which allows all the molecules to be identical. In comparison all other brands (including “full synthetics”) refine crude oil into motor oil. You can only refine crude oil so much to get the molecules smaller and more uniform. This is why Amsoil is the best oil that’s made from crude oil, but also why it’s one of the most expensive.Having a low cold pour point is good because the oil is closer to its operating temperature viscosity when it’s cold. This is more important when living in colder climates. I used to use Citgo Full Synthetic because I got it for $2 a quart, but in the winter on days when it was below -10F the motors would sound horrible, like metal on metal, due to the oil being like honey/wax from being so cold. Since switching to Pennzoil Platinum/Ultra Platinum the motors sound the same as if it were 70F outside when I start them up thanks to that low cold pour point.
