It works!
I use this to charge my original Nintendo DS. It takes a bit more effort to pull it out of the charging port than it does for the official Nintendo charger, but the USB-A connection makes this a worthwhile charger for this retro game enthusiast.

IT'S ALIVE!! (Happy Halloween y'all)
Found this bad boy unmodified, virgin NDS in a junk box. Had to get a charger, Amazon for the save. It fits perfectly with no issue, the orange light came on, this just works now. No modding needed, no breakdown, no replacing parts (for now) needed. I could have cried but as a man, I couldn't do it yet. This charger just save this from the trash.
