Fantastic cage
This really is a hamster mansion. It is huge with plenty of space for hamsters to run and play. The big acrylic windows allow you to see all of your furry friend's activities while the ramps and houses provide ample hiding spots. There is enough room on the lowest level for a full sized (10 inch) exercise wheel. Overall a great house but there are a few cons: 1. It is wood so some modifications will need to be made to prevent chewing and also water damage from leaky water bottles and/or animal urine. I used waterproof contact paper and a square of plastic dollhouse "linoleum" flooring for under the waterbottle. 2. The bottom panel is not anchored down and doesn't cover all edges and corners. You will need to put something underneath to catch bedding and prevent damage to surfaces underneath. 3. Assembly... not difficult, but the holes are not predrilled so if you're not careful and don't line it up exactly, you could end up with something a little crooked or wobbly.Anyway, this cage is georgous as is, but if you're a hobbyist, there are endless possibilities for personalizing this cage for your critter. So far a very happy hamster!

Absolutely love the possibilities!
The media could not be loaded. Okay, I'm going to try to get as much info as possible in here...1. I am not sure what other people had problems with putting this together because I think it was pretty easy compared to Ikea furniture. Sure it doesn't have written out steps, but the pictures are pretty self explanatory. Took my partner and I about 10 minutes. That being said, it is definitely easier with two people.2. The wood is great and lightweight making it easy to move around and pick up, especially when doing modifications and changing stuff, the way I did. If you plan on painting the outside (like I did) plan on 2x's the paint, it really soaks it up and you will need two layers.3. That being said, yes, this will definitely be an easy enclosure for your hamster to chew through. However, the whole point of having a huge enclosure like this, is to have tons of room and space and toys and so much for them to do that they don't even think about chewing the walls because there's so much to do. I will update with pictures once I finish the enclosure, but I plan to pack it with tons to explore.4. Easy to clean? No, not at all if you don't take many steps, but again, I knew I was going to enjoy modifying it so I have some suggestions. First off, I flipped the door on the front to the top like another reviewer suggested. This way I can fill the entire bottom with substrate and still use the door. If you fill it up to the door, this gives you 11 inches! (BTW, the minimum is 6 inches!) I also yeeted the second shelf. It takes up too much space for natural things. In fact I sawed it into pieces and used them as a fence for my top floor so my hamster won't fall off the sides. Again, the soft wood makes for easy cutting. Anyway, I like that you can remove the floor so I used waterproof contact paper and covered the whole floor so that urine won't soak into the wood. Around the entire inside walls I used mod podge to put a clear coat (and hamster safe) sealant so again, any urine won't soak into the wood. I also did this with the entire top shelf (so that little hammy doesn't ruin my beautiful rainbow!)Anyway, like I said, this piece needs lots of modifications (and tons of hamster research) before using, but gosh it's just so beautiful and I love it anyway! Much love to your little pets!Edit 4/9/22:Kiwi is so happy in here! We haven't really had any issues because of how much I planned ahead (and because I have a pretty easy-going little ham). He definitely pees in his little hide under the substrate, but putting down contact paper and mod podge has kept the wood from soaking up urine. I spot clean here and there and haven't really had to clean anything major but his little hole underground. We haven't had any issues with chewing walls or trying to escape, but you'll see from the video that I added hooks to the top just incase. I can't have any escapes, I have 3 little dogs who would hunt him down! I change his hides and move stuff around every other month, just to keep things new for him and I also scatter feed/hide food so he has to work to find it. Definitely recommend this enclosure!

Great cage.
Love thos cage and so does my hamster. I put the door on top so I could give her a burrow space. The instructions are not very clear but my son and I was able to put together. Took 2 hours. I've seen a few bad reviews on here and as long as you have plenty of things to keep your hamster busy they won't chew. Easy to clean amd all I cam say is do your research if you are going to build a healthy ha It at for your hamster. I am very pleased with my cage amd would definitely buy again.

Great Base but needs adaptations to be suitable for a hamster
I'll start off by saying that unless you are willing to make changes to this product - don't buy it. You also need to have lots of rodent knowledge. That said, if you do, then it's a wonderful base to start building a more custom hutch with but, It is not suitable for a rodent straight out of the box. It also smells VERY heavily (I waited 5 months until the smell was entirely gone before continuing to assemble it as that scent is poisonous to them). Also, due to the fact that the wood has the possibility to cause harm to the hamster if they chew on the cage (which is a relatively common behavior) I also added a layer of contact paper along the bottom and sides of the cage - this also pee-proofed the wood as it did not come covered in anything (like other hutches do) and urine would just soak right into it. The bottom of the hutch is also quite thin and flimsy, in fact you have to be pretty careful with all the pieces (its pretty soft wood) and be sure to keep the cage full of things to chew on and play with so that the hamster does not get bored and chew it's way out. Just in the off chance that mine would decide to try that, I also decided to cut some plexiglass to the size of the bottom and put that over the contact paper to make it sturdier and fit better (both the shelves and bottom were also slightly off in size and needed to be sealed with aquarium sealant to prevent bedding and urine from falling out of it and hold the pieces together - it also meant we had to glue them to the cage with wood glue. Additionally, there is not room to add all three shelves because rodents need bedding to create burrows ( with a minimum of 6 inches because they don't climb - they dig) and the 3rd shelf prevents them from doing that. The top shelf is also too small to be useful for a Syrian hamster anyways (which is what I have) so I just attached the larger shelf to the top with wood glue and didn't use the smaller one. It also wouldn't allow for the proper sized wheel for Syrian hamsters (must be 10+ inches tall to not cause back issues for them). For the same reason as the bedding, I also flipped the hutche's front door so that the door piece which opens would be on top instead - if you have a cat, dog, bird, or small child that shouldn't get into the hutch then I would also recommend purchasing a separate lock for the front door/opening because it is pretty flimsy as well. After that, I also bought 3 wooden bendable hamster bridges which I turned on their side and glued down to the edge of the 2nd shelf to act as a fence and stop my hamster from jumping or falling off. I also didn't attach the two provided houses because they were pretty large and I think the space could be better used with other hamster toys. The water bottle also wouldn't attach and I personally prefer using dishes so I didn't bother with trying to solve that so if you don't want to replace their water dish twice a day, you'd need to find a solution to that as well. This might seem like a lot of modifications to some, however, I have personally had to build hutches by hand because of how bad the market is for hamster cages (all of them are WAY too tiny) and this is much easier than starting with nothing - took a little under half an hour to officially assemble once all the changes had been made. If you think this is too much work though, then don't buy it, because it will not work by itself. I haven't personally tried this one but they just came out with it and it's quite similar but seems like they fixed all the tiny problems I had with this one so I'd recommend maybe trying this one instead if you don't wish to have to customize as much stuff: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L5MYSC7/ref=sspa_dk_detail_2?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B08L5MYSC7&pd_rd_w=rFbPH&content-id=amzn1.sym.999c0877-3704-4f0f-9726-eebf80846a35&pf_rd_p=999c0877-3704-4f0f-9726-eebf80846a35&pf_rd_r=NXRCB88V9APKNGAFRSG1&pd_rd_wg=Fo4XT&pd_rd_r=cbcbd550-ec90-45f1-a4f0-9d76df7fa80d&s=pet-supplies&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw
