Dried Sliced Shiitake Mushrooms, 1lb

I could have given this company a five star based on their response when I informed them that I did not receive the product they shipped, more than a week prior. They responded immediately and shipped another which I received within two days. It would be to their best interest to provide tracking, which is quite helpful, and the post office does not charge extra for that anymore. I still wonder if it was an oversight, that the order was not shipped in the first place. However, I would highly recommend this company due to thir desire to take care of their customers and their product is great. I will most definitely order from them again. I was 100% satisfied with their follow through and their desire to take care of a potential problem.

These mushrooms came in an interesting package resembling somewhat of a tube. It seems that a lot of previous reviewers were bothered by this, but it was a thick plastic bag that was clear. The bag was about 18" long and 7" wide. I don't have a problem with this because the mushrooms were good quality Shiitakes which were mostly intact. This is a very large amount of mushrooms that would otherwise cost more than three times the price, which was around $20/lb when I bought this particular pound here. I've used these several times and can't tell the difference between these and the ones I spent three times the amount of money on in an international grocery store.Pros:Mushrooms are largeGood quality and tasteInexpensive for the volume you getVery fast deliveryCons:Uncertainty that you'll get the same great product next time, but there's only one way to find out... order more when I run out...Conclusion:These mushrooms are a fantastic deal at around $20/lb. Those people may notice a difference between these Shiitakes and ones that cost triple, but most of us won't. If you're looking for some mushrooms to soak and cook in a casual dinner a couple of times a week, you won't find anything better than these....

I used to buy at Costco the dried Shitake mushrooms in a canister which is no longer available. I tried this brand and found that it doesn't match the intensity of flavor even when I add more mushrooms. They are nicely dehydrated and have a nice coloration but not the flavor. A little disappointed.

These are absolutely fantastic mushrooms!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always read all the reviews, etc. and I had a bug-bad experience with Asian store bought mushrooms..........they were fine for a while and then I went to use them and they were minute bug infested!!! Really grossed me out and turned me off to dried mushs for quite a while, so you can imagine I was very leery of getting more. Plus, they tend to be pricey, so buying is a cautious matter. Well. I am so pleasantly surprised by these!!!! They a whole mushroom tops and no stems. The bag is enormous!!!! About 24 inches long by 8" wide.......this is HUGE bag of mushrooms, and while I love them and use them a lot, this will last me/us about a year, after hydration!!!! They are wonderfully flavorful and hydrate very well. I recommend simmering them in boiling water for about 5 minutes before eating and also to hydrate in water about at least a half hour. SAVE the water for broth or soup; rich and full of nutrients!!!! KEEP THE BAG IN THE FREEZER!!!! TO STORE!!!! so you don't get the bugs........Lesson learned. Enjoy; this is a high quality product and you will not be disappointed!!!!

These mushrooms have the consistency of rubber and the flavor of nothing. I can't find a thing worthwhile. I tried reconstituting these mushrooms 5 different ways, for up to 10 days and I wouldn't use them in anything I would eat. I tried water, chicken broth, wine, Vegetable stock, beef broth and more.After giving them a more than fair chance I threw the rest of them away. Just a bad choice on my part.

These have a great flavor. I usually put what I need in a container of water to rehydrate them for about 5 minutes. Then I squeeze out the extra water and place the mushrooms in whatever recipe I am making. I put them in stews, gravies, casseroles and soups. If I am cooking something with enough liquid and it will be cooking for awhile, then I don't rehydrate them. These mushrooms do well with meats but also can replace them. It almost taste like thin meat strips in texture. They are a hit in every meal I put them in.The bag they are in is large, good quality and is resealable. I've been using these for over 2 years and the quality has always been excellent.

I have not tried my mushrooms yet thus the 4 star rating. Fro what I can tell these mushrooms are the real deal. The price is good and the quality appears to be good I will update my review after my first use. I would not be worried about buying them again.

I just received my order and the mushrooms look really great. However, they came in a clear garbage bag that was untied and placed inside a produce box for a different product - so I'm not a fan of the packaging.
