SAKURASumoGrip Pencil with Comfort Grip - 0.5 mm Ergonomic Mechanical Pencil - Clear Blue

This is my favorite mechanical pencil. I have all three sizes (0.5, 0.7, 0.9). I carry one with me with a small sketch pad for appointments where I have to wait, vacations, etc. Makes it easy for me to do sketches on the go by carrying a pencil that I do not have to sharpen. The size is very comfortable.

Excellent grip. Smooth writing. Don't know why, but this pencil writes more smoothly than other .5 pencils that I've used.

This pencil is good. I like the color because it is bright and it stands out so that other people don't take it by mistake.

I like to use pencil to make notes in my recipe books. The Sumo grip has the fattest, most comfortable grip of any mechanical pencil I can find. I keep one in my kitchen drawer to use for notes. So far, I am very pleased. I also love the very large, retractable eraser!

I love these pencils. I just bought some replacements since now I'm going back to school and I only have one trusty one that's lasted me 5 years of use. (2 of those super heavy while I was still in school, more recently for notes during meetings, etc.) I've been using these pencils since about 2008, and I've never had one break such that it couldn't be fixed.I'm a big guy with large hands, and most other pencils I have issues with the lead breaking all that time. This is the only pencil that I've ever found that allows me to write with 0.5mm lead. The tip has a metallic sleeve that slides out with the lead and is tapered so that as you write, the sleeve slides back to allow you to continue without extruding more lead. I have issues with applying too much pressure and with this pencil design, I actually poke holes through the page more often than I break lead.Also with the big hands, this is one of the best pencils at preventing fatigue for me. Man, when you're burning lead through a test, it's nice to not have to take breaks to shake your hand out!Now...why wouldn't I give this 5 stars?What I have had break on my a couple times is the clip. It's secured with a plastic ring that's glued down, but eventually the glue breaks loose. It's because it's right where you grip whenever you erase. Whenever that's happened, it is a pretty easy fix with super glue.Having had good luck with these in the past, I can tell you that I've never had one wear the way most mechanical pencils do where eventually the lead pieces slide back into the chamber as you write.It does, like many other pencils, have the flaw that the lead extrudes when you erase. It's an easy fix to push the lead back in through.What I did notice is that the grips on the new ones I ordered are a little smaller than the pencil I have from several years ago. It's not as cushy as my pencil from the good ol' days, but they do tend to break in a little and this one is already getting better.Also Sakura...don't cheap out on me here. This coming with only 1 extra piece of lead in the chamber? Boo.

Arrived on time & works great - the thicker pencil feels very comfortable in my had while drawing.

I'm absolutely in love with this pencil. I find that if I write for a long time my hand tends to hurt with normal pencils but this pencil allows me to write a little longer before I feel discomfort. Would definitely buy again and in fact got 3 lead sizes of this pencil.
