Hellbilly Deluxe 2

I've listened to this album many times and it's not getting old. First things first, don't expect a return to the style of the original Hellbilly Deluxe, that's not what it is. This album is a stand-alone.Jesus Frankenstein - A sinister opening to the album. It's unlike any other Zombie track. From the crisp rhythm to the soothing acoustic sound, there is plenty to enjoy here. It's one of my favorites.Sick Bubble Gum - A fast-paced, concise track, with a catchy chorus. Brings to mind older songs such as "Demon Speeding" and "Dragula", but there's a new approach used here.What? - One of those songs that you listen to again and again, and never get tired of. This is one of the jumpier tracks with some insane imagery that I will never make sense of. A great track to put on repeat.Mars Needs Women - A brilliant acoustic opening and a catchy song, but as has already been said a thousand times, the opening adds nothing to the song, this is one reason why I would recommend the special edition instead.Werewolf, Baby! - An interesting concoction of rock riffs, piano, and effective vocals. Not one of my favorites, but still a strong track.Virgin Witch - My only complaint developed here: the opening riff sounds almost identical to the riff which "Jesus Frankenstein" breaks into. Aside from that, this is a dark, heavy song, with another addictive riff and a slick solo from John 5.Death and Destiny inside the Dream Factory - Jumpy with electronic vocals and a chorus that begs to be sung along to.Burn - My favorite track on the album. It's menacing, heavy, with disorientating lyrics. I may have listened to it about 70 times, and I still love it. I can't get enough.Cease to Exist - A dreary track. The synth vocals are interesting, and it is structured well. Again, not one of my favorites, but there is plenty to appreciate it for. It's a break from the other tracks as it is a lot more tame, making it a nice contrast to "Burn"Werewolf Women of the SS - Like "What?" and "The Dream Factory" it is a song with a high tempo. John Five pulls off yet another great solo here.The Man Who Laughs - Fast, melodic, and symphonic. It sounds pretty damn good. The 4 minute drum solo is concise and impressive, and no sooner has it's mind blowing speed decreased before the catchy chorus sweeps us up once again for a final journey.I wouldn''t recommend this as your first ever RZ CD, but if you are at all familiar with him, don't miss it.

I reviewed the original release of HBD2 and gave it 4 stars. If you need to know what the bulk of the cd is like then please read that and the other reviews.This is just to let anyone interested know that the 3 extra tracks on this Special Edition release are excellent.I was fully aware that there were only 3 extra audio tracks on this release and even though id got the original i thought for £9 id give it a go.Devils Hole, the first new track, is straight into Rob Zombie heavyness at his best! Imagine something similar to 'I Zombie' from the Astrocreep Cd and your not far off.The second new track, Everythings Boring, is just as good with the 1st verse starting after the intro with deep, ominous piano type sound, closely followed by a massive, chunky riff.Theyre both just what ive been wanting from RZ for some time and my 2 favourite tracks off the CD.The third new track, Michael, is a slow more chilled out one which in the past iv not liked RZ doing. However this track has really grown on me and the almost Blues like guitar solo in it was great.In summery, if your a big Rob/ White Zombie fan then you really should buy this if you can get it for £9 like i did.The new tracks are easily worth £3 each as far as im concerned.Oh... and theres a DVD with a few videos on it too...which ive not looked at yet :-/Not the best review iv ever done but i was just that impressed with the extra tracks i thought id add my thoughts.CheersRich

This release has caused fans to throw their hands up in the air and question why they would buy an album they already have just for a few bonus tracks and a dvd. Well fear not Zombie fans...this album is well worth the buy...the bonus tracks are some of Rob's finest! It would seem that the addition of Joey Jordison to his touring band has given old Rob a kick up the behind and remember why he made us sit up and listen to his crazy insane music in the first place!Without going into too much detail, this is the album Rob Zombie should have released as the official Hellbilly Deluxe 2!!! The added songs make the album sound so much better and finished!!!Oh by the way the DVD is pretty cool too!!!Buy it Zombie fans!!!

Pale in comparison to the first Hellbilly Deluxe album. It's all a bit lame if I'm honest. Personally I'd avoid Rob's solo work. White Zombie were far better.
