The Panasonic GX9 Menu System Simplified Paperback – June 2, 2018

This a great book, if you are new to this camera. It does not teach you photography, but it walks you through every single menu option. Some of the options are self-explanatory, while other options are not so obvious. This is were the book shines, especially when it come to option combinations. The author even provides a suggested settings to get you started. This is a must have book, because the manual provided with the camera, leaves out a lot of information.

We all know how bad camera manufacturer's manuals are, seemingly written by and for engineers not users. This book, by the late David Thorpe, tackles the heart of any digital camera's operation: the menu system.He does a good job, as other reviews will attest, but I'm knocking this book down one star because of the lack of an index, which would have been invaluable (there's a table of contents, but you have to know the menu structure before you can find what you want in the ToC!).Another reason for the one-star ding is that the book could use some illustrations other than the occasional image of a menu icon. There are some typos and a few inaccuracies, but I can live with them.That said, this book is the only game in town for this camera, and we should be grateful for this effort, at least.Unfortunately, Mr. Thorpe died in May of 2021.

I'm a Micro 4/3 user with a stable of Panasonic Lumix and Olympus camera's and lenses. These are really just micro computers that take pictures and the pictures I take (Street) requires that I understand my gear and move fast. This book is essential to achieving that task. Read it and then apply it, you'll love your GX9 and what it can do.

This could be a great tool if it had an index. The table ov contenes isn't bad, but an index is essential for any chnicla book. I don't know how it was published without one. So it's not great, but good.

I've used David Thrope books in the past and find them indispensable. Like any user "guide" originating in Japan, the Panasonic GX9 Basic or Advanced manuals are a complete and utter mess.As others have pointed out, there are a few (a few too many) errors in the guide. Some are obvious to anyone. Others will be recognized by those experienced with Panasonic cameras. For anyone new to Panasonic, while the errors detract, I believe the guide is still indispensable.One would think a digital book would be fairly easy to correct and note changes. No idea why its not done. The fact it would differ from the paper copy is a poor reason for both to contain errors.

As usual this is a well thought out and thorough run through of the camera. I think the examples of when you would use, it makes all the difference.Excellent.

A must have! David is a fantastic photographer and his descriptions of how to use this amazing camera will help make you a better photographer.

This is what a manual should be like. Very well thought out and precise. I am loving my GX9 even more now.

Practical, informative and easy to have in a pocket handy.

I had recently purchased this camera and was new to the micro 4/3rd system so i thought purchasing this guide wouldbe a great help and believe me it was,I read the book over twice with the camera at hand it was simple to follow and concise, I always have it with me together with the camera if i have a problem shooting when out, If you have bought the gx9 i would not hesitate torecommend this guide.Thank you,AlanWinton.

In place of an official manual this is very useful. I did however find some things more confusing than simply working through the cameras menus...but I would look to getting another as or when the next upgrade occurs.

J'ai acheté le livre car les commentaires étaient très élogieux mais il n'y a pas tant d'explications que ça.Sa seule utilité est d'être un manuel en papier plutôt que d'aller chercher sur un PC ou un téléphone.
