Initial Review: Besides the whistle noise it's a win
The media could not be loaded. So, I'll start this review by stating that my wife should be a stockholder at Yankee Candle for the number of candles she has purchased over the years. With that said, we pay anywhere from $3-$6 for candle lighters (just the plain Bic ones...not even with the flexible head). We also do have a fire pit and a grill that we use the lighter for. So, will this product get used? Absolutely. Will it pay for itself? It sure will (in a couple of months of not having to buy lighters).Pros:+ Easy to use+Recharable+Solid structure and feel (has a good weight to it)+Decent length (similar to a candle lighter--maybe a tad shorter)Cons:- Weird dog-whistle noise when the arc hits (definitely not silent, but the house will know when you are lighting a candle...or something else)-The arc end extends out...but its kind of small, I haven't tried lighting cardboard or something else with it yet so I'll update when I try lighting the firepitAspects I didn't review:+/- durability (can't do that yet)+/- How long it holds a charge+/- Break-in period+/- Lighting larger items

Works well and looks good but doesn't seem suited for standard USB (5V @ 500mA). Keep end clean!
Initial review: Recommended. The lighter works well but the electronics should be improved a little and the price should be raised. When using, make sure to keep the end clean especially of a little candle wax that can stop the arc.Minor problems/gripe with electronics: The box says the charger you use must be 3.2 V ~ 3.7 V with less than 280 mA. But standard USB from a computer is 5V and 500 mA, and the current from a cell phone charger is 2A or more. I tried an external 4-port USB hub attached to my computer with another device plugged into it which should have halved the current to 250 mA. I charged for 10 minutes and the blinking blue LED went solid indicating the charge was done but that didn't seem right so I charged for 2 hours (near the recommended limit to avoid overcharging). At the least the electronics should be tweaked to handle 5V and 500 mA and provide overcharge protection.I also do not like the internal / non-replaceable battery. Preferably, the design should be changed to accept two AA/AAA batteries (there is room in the straight part of the handle). This lighter needs to be recharged about once a month with light use (about 20 uses) so the life of its non-replaceable internal batteries might only be a few years. I would like this lighter to last at least a decade lIke my old nonrefillable butane lighter so replaceable batteries would be great. If you wind up not getting an arc but the LEDs animate as normal, try turning off the lighter and wiping the end with a cloth. Extend the leads and wipe them as well (with the lighter OFF!). IF that still doesn't work, try using the lighter in a stream of tap water. If it arcs while in water then perhaps the leads need to be wiped again. This happened to me because some wax transferred from the candle wick.

Really wonderful product - for 8 months
I use candles all the time and completely ran out of my stock of butane lighters. When I was searching to replace them, I found the electric version. (I didn't even know they existed!) I'm SO happy with this product! It works fantastic and it's great to get away from using the old-school butane lighter wands. I love the sleek look of it. Just a great product at a reasonable price. WELL worth the money!UPDATE: So, the lighter I loved and raved about worked a total of 8 months. First it started shorting out...sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. Now, I can't even get it to charge. Disappointing; I thought it was better quality than what I ended up getting. But, I loved the design of it, so I purchased it again. The second one lasted for about 8 WEEKS, then wouldn't hold a charge. After the final charge attempt, it immediately went from 4 blue lights to blue light dot, then it started sizzling, I could smell a burning smell and the handle got really hot. I am DONE with this lighter!! I would give it ZERO stars if I could.

Ouch, didn’t last 2 months, and apparently no warranty!
Review updateHmm, lighter stopped working less than two months from purchasing. There doesn’t appear to be a warrant. Too bad, I liked it.Original reviewWow, I'm pretty impressed by this lighter so far. I hate the cheap versions and wanted something that felt somewhat substantial and lasted. This also looks good on my mantle. I have tried the refillable butane models but they don't last. Not sure about the durability of this yet - time will tell. The only trick for this is you need to push the button to turn it on first (which shows power level in a led) then push the ignite switch. No extra safety switch needed. Like the fact I don't need butane any longer and just need to plug this into a mini USB power cord to charge. Haven't needed to do that yet. Note - it's not something I would take camping or leave outdoors. Not sure that it's waterproof.

Neat and handy lighter
This product is so handy and works perfectly. I love how easy it is to turn the lighter on and use immediately, especially since it’s much easier than a normal lighter. It seems to hold battery charge for a long time, but the fact that it can even be recharged is amazing. It’s long and slim so it can reach into my candles to light them where other lighters can’t since I can’t ignite them inside that small space. I also love that you have to turn the lighter on for it to be used. My little boys aren’t able to accidentally use it.

From cigarettes to propane stoves - NEVER use a regular lighter again!
I'm using a propane stove to heat chemicals in a chemistry set, & bought this to light the propane safely. It's GREAT!!! I really like the fact that it charges using its USB-micro port, & is ready to go. 2nd - the small arc that it provides allows you to light objects without the smoke or smell that comes with using matches & lighters. Also, the 8-inch length means that you can keep your hand away from the propane gas coming out, & so the instant flame won't be hot.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! You can now throw away all of your old-fashioned lighters.

Five Star
I go through way too many lighters throughout the months and it really starts to rack up so I thought, why not buy a slightly expensive lighter which requires a little bit of power every now and then.*** Pro's ***- It has a built in safety which prevents the lighter being turned on when it isn't used- A really quick 1 hour charge will be about 100 uses of the lighter, this is so much for the price of energy you would be paying- There is no spark or smell which means, if you are smoking something it will taste nicer :)- Has a bunch of over charge and over heat protection to make sure your charger will last as long as possible*** Con’s ***- The size is quite bigIn conclusion this is an amazing lighter and really makes you safe money on buying trashy smaller lighters, although the design is quite big this will be no problem to keep in a bag.

Stopped working, now does electric shocks instead of candles.
This is a really innovative looking product and works well while it lasts. Sadly, after 4 months of very light use, it stopped working. As it couldn't discharge the electricity where it was supposed to, it discharged it via the USB charging port on the side and into my hand, giving me an electric shock. Now, as well as the return window being closed, my hand hurts too. Waste of money, potentially dangerous, and thrown in the bin (with my other hand)

Brilliant
I have never seen or heard of lighters like this until I stumbled across it by accident. My cooker clicker is broken and the cheap throw away lighters dont last long so in steps this beauty. Rechargeable and works everytime with the bonus of using it outside for the bbq.Now I bet your wondering why only 4 stars. The noise the thing makes hurts my ears lol. It's so high pitched. Oddly my dog doesn't mind it but it makes my ears feel weird lol.Apart from that its Brill and definitely worth the money.

Great Arc Lighter
This is great lighter when compared to my previous one. It works like a charm. You need to press the button and hold it for a second to activate the arc. I guess this is for safety purposes. It's easy to use and looks very stylish. Highly recommend.
