A good reference Bible
A lot of thought has been put into the layout of this 'literal' translation of the Bible. This short review is about the kindle version. I should mention that I have been reading this Bible on the All-New Kindle Paper white. Bibles are not often read from cover to cover in one or two seatings, and zipping about from one chapter to another, or indeed one book to another book on a kindle is not as easy as can be done in a physical book. With this Bible it is much easier than usual to navigate your way around, most of the credit is probably due to the kindle version I am using, but the design and layout of the ebook certainly deserves a lot of credit. The references are simple to access, appearing in a popup window, which closes after you have read it to return you to the page you were on before. This makes a good study Bible. However, if you want something that you can use in church to quickly get to the several passages being referred to during the talk then try the New International version of the eBook edition [NIV Bible (Bible Niv Internationl Version)]. It will cost you a few dollars but it is well worth it and even faster to navigate than a paper Bible [http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R2O05YSO66XW99/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B005IYICEO&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=].

The Holy Bible
This is The Holy Bible English Standard Version and its text is understandable and intelligible. Strong and powerful words of life. Timeless words of Wisdom to guide travelers through the world. Amazing history of Israel. The Law of God and coming of God's Son Jesus Christ. The Grace of God the way of God's Salvation to mankind. The New Covenant based on Jesus Christ's Grace agreement with Christian's. The Work of God through Jesus ministry of preaching the Gospel to Israelites and others and Jesus vicarious atonement on the cross paying the death price to redeem humankind from the curse of death. The Resurection of Christ signaling the Triumph of Truth and Goodness in the face of evil and death. The Bible is a moral guide book to help guide the lost to our Heavenly Father and the Kingdom of Heaven where God dwells in unapproachable light. Only through the Word of God do we know the right way to go and we have here a true light to shine the way on the path of holiness that leads through this worlds darkness into God's presence of the Holy Spirit.Read this book with awe and wonder for it tells of things divine and otherworldly where only love has the answer and life is eternal.

Excellent Bible with Pros and Cons on the Kindle platform
Don't get me wrong. I Like the ESV (Anglisised because I am a Brit). In fact the ESV is my preferred 'Word for word' translation of the Bible and I use the print version almost every day. But to the Kindle version, on a Kindle, there are Pros and Cons.Pros.1) It is FREE. That is amazing and warrants it 5 stars! (American version only, the Anglicised you still have to pay for)2) Because you can search on the kindle (using Menu/Search you have a built in exhaustive concordance, (The thin one at the back of this edition, print and ebook, is a bit frustrating because ...it is so thin and inevitably seems to think the reference you want was not important enough to include). However, in Search, it shows you the location ref (5 digit numeric code) and a 4 line context, not the Bible ref so to find out where it is you select the location and get hotlinked to the page and from there can get the Bible ref.3) Once you find what you want to read, it is clear and easy reading. The English is clear, mainly contemporary, not dumbed down, direct.4) This is a cross-reference edition. Crossreferencing a bible is not easy and you have to learn how to use the system of your preferred bible. The ESV crossreferencing system is just fine in print but on the Kindle it is BETTER. Because when you have selected your cross ref (scroll up or down, left & right till the little pointy hand shows near the cross ref letter) you get sent to the refs for that section (you have to remember your letter) then you select the reference you want and you are hot-linked straight to the page, without having to turn a page. Great! The only odd thing is that the pointy hand does not want to sit over the cross ref letter itself but to the word next to it and that you have to remember the letter. But it still works well.Cons.1) The main problem is looking things up (not using cross referencing); finding a particular Bible verse. It is normal to look up referred verses while using the Bible, maybe listening to a sermon, maybe reading a book. On the Kindle, this is a process: hit Menu / Go to / Table of contents/ then find the book you want (having only a single column of books means that some page flipping may be needed, taking more time) select the book, select the chapter, select the verse. Got it! Using a print Bible it may take up to 15 seconds, but often around 5. Using the Kindle it has to be at least double the time, maybe three times. Enough to be discouraging and not bother after a while. To be fair to the Kindle, it was probably configured as it is for reading novels and other books where you start at the beginning and read through sequentially till you finish the book. And the Kindle remembers to bookmark your page.Generally, the Bible is not (in fact probably should not) be read in that way. It is a library not a book, so just picking out the left hand book on the top shelf can be unhelpful. If you DO want to just read sequentially, try starting with the Gospel of Luke, read through to Revelation, then start at the beginning, Genesis, till you finish Mark. Conclusion:So why did I 'buy' it? Because when I travel, I can leave my hardback ESV (and hardback Message) at home and only carry the Kindle (which I would have carried along anyway). Does it succeed in that role? YES! Does it have draw backs? See above.

Found a good one at last
Are you looking for a bible with a good translation, ? with easy navigation, ? I was I own a Kindle fire HD 8'9 and having searched for a long time I was growing increasingly desperate as I read so many customers reviews on other bibles stating that they thought their choice fell short, especially as regards the navigation problems, ie jumping around the scriptures.Well if it helps, I have to say this one fits the bill for me, !! it is very easy to navigate, gives a table of contents to search from, and at any time and anywhere you only have to tap the `go to` icon on the top bar of the kindle to jump to any book.needed.The translation is clear and easy to understand, it draws from, and is very like the King James version which I have always liked but this ESV edition has gone to a lot of trouble to make the scriptures readable while retaining the beauty and poetry of the original verse. And what's more it was free from Amazon, you really can't go wrong, why not download and try it for yourself, if you do, I hope you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was.David Hinton.of the

Heel uitgebreid.
