Not trustworthy
Bought this product on Jan 2015. Everything went well for three years until one day it became unaccessible. Took it to our nearest Toshiba service center where in 5 minutes they analysed and returned it saying ' no more'. Later I took it to a data recovery centre to know any possibilities for which they put forward these charges.Initial assessment @ Rs. 700 ( non refundable)If there is any retrievable data it will be charged @ Rs. 3000 minimum even it is 100 mb. Mine has 450 gb ( can't imagine the price they might put forward). And most these data recovery centres are charging the same. If I have to retrieve everything ( they won't do on demand files or folders) I need to pay what the 'say'.So why should we need this ? To protect important datas ? To carry data in a portable device ? To transfer excess datas ? One morning it says it's unaccessible and you have no other option but to pay the recovery center whatever they ask to get your datas.

Toshiba Canvio a good quality silent HDD
I bought this for storage. It does a great job of it on USB 3.0 . Very fast and silent. The built in indicator light is blue on usb 3 and white on usb 2. . The price is very competitive and the casing does not give feel of cheap plastic.Toshiba brand itself gave me confidence in buying this product as I have been using their products for long time.

Neat Product in this range - Bought this HDD for 3400
1) Delivery from Amazon, order placed on 24th and got it delivered on 28th (a day before estimated delivery date) --Awesome 5/52) Next is packaging, packaging is with card board outside without any air plastic papes, but the inside is well packed as its kept inside a good plastic packaging as if HD cant move sides.. Well packed but can be improved -- Good 4/53) Coming to the product I have ordered for HDTB110AK3AA and got HDTB310AK3AA which I am not much concerned as its a higher model ;) ;) It's is small (palm size). its really cool. not so hard on the outside and its light weight, a pouch for 200 rupees will protect the HD even more .. 3.5/54) Speed is not great 26 mbps for movies in usb2.0 port and going to the top of 96 mbps using 3.0 port, not like 5 gbps as given in the description, but for this kinda money and I am not super busy I am not very much concerned... 4/55) IMPORTANT: To check the warranty use this Toshibha site giving your Part Number if it returns 1 its in warranty.[...] 6) In case if you need to know how long the warranty is then use the below URL:[...] -- Click on Toshiba, it takes you to next page where to need to enter the serial number and find out till what date its convered under warranty.7) I am happy with the product, hope my review helps you in sorting out your confusions...

Worst Product support
This is the review after 1Year...- No Proper Customer support in India- No Data RecoveryTill 1Year this Product worked so well after that, I got 2 issuesFile Accessible becomes slow(I had around 600GB of DATA).after few weeks the HDD itself becomes inaccessible..Then i took it to Toshiba service center -they told SATA Pin Might Got damaged. But, really i am not sure how it got damaged.They told they have to send the product to the Toshiba Manufacturing unit and they'll replace the device - Sad part is they told there is "no data recovery" Either they replace the device or they return the device and we need to get data recovered from outside.I gave the device in the service center and came..After couple of weeks later they called and told me to collect the device - They told SATA Pin Damage will not covered in the warranty,Then I collected the device and went to Data Recovery center they confirmed me that, Bad sector happened in the entire drive and they told its tough to recover. I lost most of my data...I mailed them and no support from them....Even Data recovery guys told me to purchase WD or Segate, Since they r also receiving so many complaints in this TOSHIBA...

Toshiba Canvio Simple(Basic) 1TB Portable External Hard Drive
Pros:(1) Obviously the Price.(2) USB 3.0 is Damn Fast. Copying a Large file gives speed close to 100 Mbps, Variates though but remains above 80 Mbps. Don't expect this speed if copying thousands of small files like I386 folder or MS Office or a Folder filled with thousands of Pics as the HDD wastes time to read the location of file and that is written in File Allocation Table, hence this continuous seeking wastes time in the process and you will get speed lower than 10Mbps in some cases.(3) It is very compact hence easy to carry or store.(4) Light Weight.Cons:(1) The USB Cable is not too good.(2) With this cost must not expect sturdy build. But again even if you drop the best HDD available it will be dead in few times of dropping(I've faced this).

Update: Using it for more than two years now, the price has increaded it seems.Pros:Product was delivered on time works fine.No loud noice as complained by a few people.Cheaper than WD with around 3.5k price tag.Concerns:When i checked for the warranty coverage on toshiba site got this error message. "Invalid Model Part Number, could not find this in our Database. Please try again..."For model No. hdtb310ak3aa it shows only 1 year warranty.I am very happy with the product as of now, it's been only hours since I recieved it. Will write a detailed one later.
