It worked perfectly. I have an older Broadcast Audio Processor that can only be remote controlled via a serial port. It's rare that I need to make changes on this processor, but if I did, I had to go to the hilltop. Needles to say, I got tired of making unscheduled trips up the hill to crank on the processor. Now, I can control it from anywhere. The item was well packaged and arrived on time. It's a nice looking unit with a metal case. I won't go as far as saying the manual was useless, it did contain some meaningful information. However, some of the English didn't make sense as it was obviously translated from another language. The unit isn't plug n play. But if you have a basic understanding of how to configure TCP/IP settings on your computer, you should be able to connect to the unit without problems. Connecting to it's built in GUI on port 80 with a browser is easy. Using it as a bridge to communicate with your remote device is a little more difficult. You'll need to set up a Static IP number for the device, and specify port number and protocol (TCP/UDP). After that, fire up your terminal software and connect.

I purchased two units. Both were obviously used. No CD was included. Couldn't configure the units without resetting them since previous consumer had changed defaults. After downloading software from the internet and resetting the units they are working.

Never buy it...try one of other brandsI ordered two units for urgent project. I was happy it was listed in prime so fast delivery...guess what... one of units is missing power adapter...I was shocked... And I have to return it to receive a replacement unit...and I can't finish my project on time... What a product on prime.Order this one if you don't mind many back and forth...

The included CD was blank.I found a cd online by searching for product name and downloaded from some random website.I found and downloaded manuals, which were poorly written and lacking explanation of many settings.I couldn't get it to work at all in Windows 10, including with win7 compat mode as suggested in one of the docs.I got it to install on windows 7 and got os to see the virtual port.I was able to get my legacy app (a DNC controller) to send some packets, but they weren't coming though as intended and the application didn't work.I was running the serial host in telnet server mode on port 23. I tried running with and without a control channel, and on a couple of different COM ports, then ran out of patience to troubleshoot further.I switched the same machine and app back to usb to serial adapter, and it worked fineIt was cheap enough that I'll hang on to the device and see if it works for some other application if the need arises, but it was a bust for this, and I'll avoid the brand and seller in the future.Overall, it was a waste of time and money for me.

You never know what you're going to get when you buy devices like this on Amazon, but in this case, it turned out quite well. We've had two of these running 24/7 for the past 4 years with zero issues. They reliably convert the RS-232 data to ethernet, sending an ethernet packet to a target when RS-232 data comes on the bus. They don't seem to mind when there are connection issues - they just pick up where they left off. Surprisingly reliable for the price point.

This unit is the APC-1000 - if you go to the manufacturer's website they say "Economical TCP/IP To Serial Converter(Not Recommended for new Customer.Instead of new P/N:ATC-1200) " which implies that it has been replaced with a newer model. The new model doesn't list 300 baud as a supported speed, so you'll need to make a decision.Having said that, this unit works for what I bought it for. It works very well, but I just installed it today so I can only hope that it will work for a long time to come.I did some experimenting with it prior to today's installation, and using programs that uses a modem is hit or miss. Some programs (especially older ones) take to it nicely and works well. Others do not work at all.When installing the software, the software package detects if you have WinPCAP installed, and will install it for you if you do not after the main program is installed. On two machines it installed flawlessly (Win7). On my Windows 10 machine, it did not install WinPCAP because it detected a newer version already installed. I could not configure the driver software on this machine, as error messages popped up when trying to save settings, and was unable to create a virtual comm port. I tried running the program in Win7 compatibility, but still no-go. I think that there is a compatibility between the newer version of WinPCAP, but that is just a guess.So the bottom line is it seems to work better with legacy machines and devices, but it did work with what I originally bought it for, so I am happy.It worked for me on a couple different Windows 7 machines, however on windows 10 after the installation the configuration software loaded and

This is typical of upper-echelon chinese electronics. It seems to work fine, although the web configuration and instructions are beyond useless in terms of helping understand how to use it.I use this to remotely talk to a serial device (an alarm panel with a serial interface). Once configured, it seems to be absolutely rock solid. I have had no issues with it after getting it online.
