Does anyone know if the texture of these nuggets is thinner/lighter and thus easier to chew for older cats with more fragile teeth?

No nothing wrong with it. Some cats get bored with the some food all the time. I alternate between the red and purple bags for My cat. She is a very fussy eater. Try doing that
