Incredibly versatile and handy
I recently gifted the Myerchin Sailors Tool Linerlock in red to a friend who just completed an amazing sailing trip from the Panama Canal to Florida, and he absolutely loved it! He found the tool to be incredibly versatile and handy throughout his journey.During the trip, he used it multiple times for various tasks, from adjusting rigging to opening stubborn packages. The linerlock mechanism is solid and ensures safety while in use, which is essential on a boat. He also appreciated the ergonomic design, making it comfortable to hold even during prolonged use.The bright red color makes it easy to spot in a busy toolbox, and the overall quality is impressive. My friend said it quickly became one of his go-to tools while sailing. I’m really glad I chose this as a gift—it was a perfect addition to his sailing gear! Highly recommend it for any sailor or outdoor enthusiast!

Great attention to detail in both the design and the ...
Great attention to detail in both the design and the manufacturing of this tool. It is well machined and has no perceivable burs etc. The marlin spike has a great point, but is not sharp and will not damage todays covered lines. The blade is small, but just as much as you will need on the deck of just about any boat. The pliers, in-lieu of a "shackle key", provide a little more functionality. I would have Myerchin consider adding an elongated hole (shackle key) in the blade (or the body) similar to what they have done with the Gen2 "Captain" and "Crew" series.

Well made & handy tool at a good price
This seems like a good quality item - I've been using it for about a year in light service and it looks & performs like new. The marlinspike and the blade lock open and can be opened and closed with one hand (with practice). The pliers is handy for shackles and fittings. Although there is not beer bottle opener, it's pretty easy to do with the pliers.

My Daily Carry!
This was a replacement gift from my kids for one of the other Myerchin models I had for 15+ years until I gave it to a friend recently who used the knife to undo some pretty hefty knots that had been in the ropes for years and weathered to the point you could only cut it or use the marlin spike. Wanting to salvage the ropes he used the Marlin spike and had nothing but praise for the functionality and quality of the knife; thus I gave it to him.The Myerchin Sailors Tool Knife is on the less expensive end of the spectrum for the Myerchin line but in looking for another knife I had been thinking the shackle pliers would be handy to have, next thing I knew it showed up as a Christmas gift from my kids.It has been on my side everyday I am working outside and the pliers have worked out great for all kinds of jobs.Note: Approximately 15 years ago I purchased the top of the line Myerchin knife for each of my older kids (5 knives) and they are still in use today and going strong with each of them. Myerchin is my daily carry and will continue to be for years to com.

Broken
The knife broke so that it couldn't be closed as soon as I took it out of the package and opened it. Huge waste of time and money. Hassle to return. Had to tape cardboard around it for safety just to throw it away.

Larger than I expected
It’s just a little too large, both thick and length, to feel comfortable in a grip. But it’s a decent knife and the spike is handy. I’m not actually a sailor, so I don’t need the top of the line tool for most chores

Really good sailors knife, salt water durable and strong
There's a lot to likeMaterials, salt water proof, easy open for blade and marlin spokeNice weight, lanyard ring very sturdyThe locking latch for the marlin spike protrudes slightly, that's EXCELLENT for single handed closingOnly one minor complaint, the locking latch for the blade doesn't protrude enoughLove the pliars feature, really useful.

So Cool!
I haven't used it yet to loosen a knot, but I can tell it will work well. Just a super cool and unique knife to add to my tackle box. If I was a sailor this would be in my pocket on a lanyard at all times!
