not really, unless you consider a 7mm socket or plastic pry tool "special".

Will I need to go to the dealer to have the radio "unlocked" after I put it back in?

It sounds like you are experiencing two separate issues. The changing stations and locking up is most likely a touch screen malfunction which this product will resolve, but if the LCD display is also flickering or dropping out, I would check your battery first and make sure it is fully charged and healthy.
