Works perfectly - highly recommend
I recently inherited a Dell E521 which I wanted to clean up, upgrade, and give to my son. In the process of working on the computer, I discovered the stock heat sink/CPU cooling fan which came with it was extremely loud (imagine a jet taking off). I purchased a quieter fan to install, but since it was only had a 4-pin connector (instead of the proprietary 5-pin Dell connector), it would not plug into the motherboard, and could only run off the main power supply, meaning the fan would only run at full speed, rather than the motherboard controlling the fan speed. After searching the internet, I found this product and the fact it was sold on Amazon made me comfortable in buying it. The seller (Tech Gears 4 Me) was very quick to ship this and I received within 3 business days of ordering. After I received it, I plugged it the 4 pin end into the fan and the 5 pin end into the motherboard and it worked exactly as it should. Fan immediately started being controlled by the motherboard and running at a much lower speed. This is a great, inexpensive solution for anyone who wants to change out the stock fan on their Dell.

Didn't fit the standard 4 pin fan
I purchased a Noctua fan (not some weird off-brand or anything) and it wasn't compatible with this connector. I ended up breaking off the "key" (the plastic that only allows certain connectors) on this product so that my Noctua fan worked on there. I wasn't really wanting to do that since the price on this adapter is absurd in my opinion, but I couldn't think of another option at this point. After breaking off the plastic key, the Noctua fan slid right on and worked as expected without any issues. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me, but not as ridiculous as Dell's proprietary 5 pin!

I tried cutting off the slits to my 3 pin ...
I tried cutting off the slits to my 3 pin connector but when i plugged in the fan it still did not work. I then figured that Dell not only made it 5 pins with 1 empty pin so that you have to use their fan, but they also switched the wires around so you cant cut off the slits with a razer and shove it in anyway. This solved my problem and the fan works perfectly. The old Dell fan makes a loud winning noise even after being cleaned so I replaced it with a quiet rubberized fan.

Fit Dell XPS 210
I bought this to facilitate replacing a case fan in my girlfriend's Dell XPS 210 desktop system. I had upgraded the processor to a Q6600 which caused the stock fan to overwork and be louder than desirable. With this connector I installed a high-flow fan and used the Dell fan connector on the Mobo using this converter cable. Worth noting, the case fan employed a 3-pin connector which fit fine into the 4-pin connector this provides.

Great product; works with 3-wire fan.
Excellent product! Even though it says 4-wire, I used it on a THREE-WIRE fan and it still worked great! It eliminated the annoying "Alert! CPU fan warning" on the boot-up on a Dell GX620 motherboard that I was refurbishing. It was a little pricey, in my opinion, but it was still worth it.

Dell Fan Connector
Worked perfectly and helped to correct the annoying bios CPU fan error. If you're replacing a fan or just want to add in a better fan to your Dell Optiplex, you'll need this cable.
