OceanMagik Live Phytoplankton Blend - Tetra x Nanno x Iso x Thal Phyto Coral, Reef, Fish & Copepod Food

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  In this case I actually put a sample under the microscope and took a video (see attached video). It is apparent that the phytoplankton arrived alive and in good condition. The package suggests refrigeration for storage, but its dark in a refrigerator, so I don't know how that will work - maybe time for another microscopic examination.I don't know what species these are, but most seemed to be multicellular, rod-like phytoplankton. I don't know whether these type of phytoplankton are suitable food for corals and isopods. Mine seem to be doing well and I inoculate the grow-lighted refugium with these phytoplankton. However, I also feed the tank with a variety of foods, including these phytoplankton a few times a year.

BEWARE: I would not recommend using this as the directions say. I did this and had a huge hairline brown and green algae issue. Went to talk to my lfs guy who is a marine biologist (with a degree) and he said this is exactly what caused the issue. Had to dose with reef flux to get rid of it. The algae took over my tank real fast as was a huge issue even in my sump. I won’t be buying this stuff again due to the fact that the recommend dosage is so that they can make money (IMO) but they don’t warn you that this can cause a serious outbreak of algae in your tank.

the product is as advertised and was nicely packed. and after 2 weeks, I have a strong green culture bubbling. for the first week, I couldn't tell what was going on & thought it might be dead. I set up a few different bottles and not all of them have done well (so the conditions have to be right) I also don't know how to verify what's growing in my bottles. turning up the heat helps it grow.nice box indicates what's inside & included some small extras. I recommend algae barn for stuff you cant get locally.

Wow this product is fantastic! Before using OceanMagik Live Phytoplankton, my soft corals and anemones didn't appear to have bright colors or large polyps. Within a week of using this product, their colors have exuberantly changed, displaying a wide variety of their natural colors. The polyps appear to be very healthy as well. Also, this product arrived quick and completely ALIVE! Very impressed with AlgaeBarn, will definitely be ordering more of this food source.

This product is great. Feeds my copepods and keeps my algae as well as my bacteria levels down. The tank glass has been clean and nuisance algae has been kept down to a minimum. Just wish the price included shipping, so it's a bit pricey on shipping charges.

I'd rate 5 stars but honestly don't know what this is doing for my aquarium or copepods. I purchased it to establish the copepods in my seahorse tank and am following the directions for daily use. The seller is excellent and customer service is great. I'm trusting that this is a good thing for establishing my copepods.

This product used to come much darker and richer. For the price they charge the photo Plankton is very light and diluted. Won't order again.
