On October 6, 2025, after using the grip for some time and contacting the vendor who demonstrated how to update the firmware, I’m updating this review to include new insights I’ve gained about the grip. I purchased the grip for my brand-new iPhone 17 Pro Max, which hasn’t arrived yet. However, I’ve been using it with my iPhone 15 Pro Max without the cover that came with the grip. The grip is well-constructed, made of lightweight aluminum, and feels sturdy in my hands. Follow the instructions for pairing and ensure that Zoom is enabled in the iOS accessibility menu. The box also includes a screen protector, which was a pleasant surprise. I haven’t used the case yet, but its lightweight aluminum construction fits very well with the grip. The grip worked seamlessly with my existing MagSafe case. The buttons function well with the iOS Camera app, but when it comes to using them with Blackmagic or Final Cut Camera apps, only the record button, which is the most crucial one, works. Telesin has indicated that a future firmware update may enhance its functionality. To update the firmware, download the free “ReefColor” app by Telesin and ensure that the grip is connected to your device. The system will automatically detect if an upgrade is needed and prompt you to proceed. The ReefColor app is a simple camera app that offers several features, including the ability to re-map the Grip buttons’ functionality. However, its most important feature is the ability to update the firmware if necessary. The Grip’s battery is designed to provide a small battery boost during recording, but it’s not a reliable power source for extended video sessions. For instance, it charged my iPhone 15 Pro Max from 30% to 60% while the phone was off before it completely drained. As per the iPhone battery settings, the battery starts charging in fast mode and then switches to slow mode. For long video sessions, I connect external power directly to the phone using a right-angle charging cable that keeps the cable out of the way when in landscape mode. When I receive my iPhone 17 Pro Max, I’ll be able to record lossless landscape or portrait mode regardless of how I physically hold the phone since it has a square sensor. If you’re looking for a sturdy and well-built grip, this is definitely recommended. I use it to shoot photos and videos for short, occasional sessions. However, when I need to record a long video session, I usually screw it to a tripod and connect an external power source directly to the phone, and I’m all set. The magnets are very strong, and I feel comfortable not dropping the phone, whether I’m holding it or on a tripod.

I purchased this grip for a trip to Thailand. The item worked fine until while on a boat ride I accidentally knocked the side of the boat. The case cracked and would no longer stay on the phone. Amazon doesn't sell replacement parts. I found the Telesin site and ordered a new case and lens. That was January 3rd 2026. They mailed it to the wrong address, actually sent me a picture of the delivery point. Not my address. I reached out to them and got silly non commital responses. It is now April 5th 2026. Still no order and now they don't respond at all. Stay away from this company they don’t back their product. And they'll keep your money.

I’m really happy with the TELESIN C03 Magnetic Selfie Light. It snaps right onto my MagSafe iPhone securely and stays in place. The light is bright, clear, and makes a big difference in my selfies and video calls. I love the 360° ring design and the built-in mirror is super convenient. Very impressive right out of the box. EZ bluetooth connect - great camera integration. I got the silver iPhone 17pro and this is a killer match up for it. Case is a perfect fit. Magnet to the phone is super solid. Zoom is smooth. Attach the lanyard to the grip and makes one-handed shooting a breeze. i would have no issues dangling from the side of boat or the Grand Canyon. No more fumbling Feels a lot like a small Leica & looks very cool too. Or use it as a separate remote trigger. Doubles as a battery charger. The ND filter fits perfectly. The selfie light is a nice plus with different degrees of tone & brightness. The price is very fair imo. ONLY issues are integration with Blackmagic camera is capture only at this time. AND i wish the Fn, Roller & Zoom buttons could be more customizable (i.e. Blackmagic rack focus/zoom etc.) - but as is, it covers what you need and then some for pix on the go.

The case is super fragile and not protective at all from edges and screen.

Griff und Case sind erstklassig in Verarbeitung und Funktionalität! Bei meinem iPhone 17 pro, passt das Case exakt, kein Hakeln und keine Taste am iPhone wird blockiert. Das Case sitzt stramm - soll es auch! Ich wechsle ohnehin nicht ständig das Case. Der Griff ist deutlich besser als vergleichbare Produkte. Mir gefällt besonders die stufenlose Zoomfunktion. Der Akku ist ein nettes Gimmick, könnte aber etwas leistungsstärker sein. Trotzdem ein klares Plus gegenüber der Konkurrenz, die lächerlich schwache Akkus verbaut. Die Handschlaufe ist gut und kann wahlweise auch am Case angebracht werden, was ich getan habe, weil ich den Griff nicht ständig nutze. Unbedingt die Anleitung lesen, das erleichtert den Start! Alles in allem eine klare Empfehlung!

Der Griff liegt sehr gut in der Hand, fühlt sich hochwertig an und verleiht dem Smartphone sofort das Gefühl, eine „echte“ Kamera zu sein. Besonders praktisch finde ich, dass er auch ohne die mitgelieferte Hülle problemlos funktioniert – die Magnetverbindung sitzt trotzdem sicher und fest. Die Bedienung über Bluetooth klappt zuverlässig, und die Zoom-Wippe sowie die belegbaren Tasten sind im Alltag ein echter Mehrwert. Gerade für spontane Foto- oder Videosessions unterwegs ist das super. Für meine einfache Reisefotografie hat der Griff mittlerweile meine große Kamera ersetzt – leichter, kompakter und trotzdem mit erstaunlich guter Kontrolle. Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt betrifft die Software: Hier wäre es schön, wenn es z. B. die Möglichkeit gäbe, nur in festen Zoomstufen zu arbeiten oder einige Funktionen etwas intuitiver zu gestalten. Das ist aber Jammern auf hohem Niveau. Alles in allem ein durchdachtes, robustes Zubehör, das das Fotografieren mit dem iPhone spürbar aufwertet. Klare Empfehlung für alle, die ihr Smartphone als Ersatz für die große Kamera auf Reisen nutzen möchten!
