Love the latest from Jamie Cullum
I am a huge Jamie Cullum fan and his work thus far, mainly jazz influenced has been legendary and magical in my opinion. He is a true unique talent which is rare today. On his sixth studio album MOMENTUM he writes all but 2 of the tracks and ventures into the world of pop and modern music. By the reviews here this venture seems to be either received by love or hate and not much middle ground. For me it an artist showing another side of their musical expression. He is in no way selling out. The songs are still performed with his amazing vocals front and center as he plays the piano. And don't let the loose use of the term "pop music" in any way take away from the quality of these songs. The opening THE SAME THINGS is strong, expressive and sets the listener up for what is to come. EVERYTHING YOU DIDN'T DO is a great uptempo track. EDGE OF SOMETHING and WHEN I GET FAMOUS are excellent tracks that showcase his reason for doing this. There are meaning to the tracks and his vocal performance has never been better. His jazz stylings still permeate some of the tracks and he tackles two standards to huge success. Cole Porter's LOVE FOR SALE is done here with excellent support from rapper Roots Manuva. Hugely successful. And Jamie's take on PURE IMAGINATION is the standout of the entire set. It is Jamie Cullum at his purest, most melodic and rawest form. For me it is the best track he has ever done. I fully respect Jamie Cullum taking an artistic chance with this latest release. I loved it all from the first listen. No song is a miss. I hope those who are disappointed give the cd more of a chance and give it a couple more listens. Granted the musical stylings are for the most part different than in the past but Jamie still remains an eclectic, artistic musical visionary. I found SAD SAD WORLD to be the best of his self penned tracks and strongly recommend this cd. Be prepare to follow a great talent as he takes some artistic chances and finds success.

Don't lock artistry in a box
It seems many expect their favorite performers to remain artistically static and they do have a right to that view, I suppose. Personally, I don't understand it - I hear definite connections between this newest Cullum offering and his earlier works. I think it comes down to whether, as a listener, you're a purist to Jazz or to Pop. Me, I like them both equally and while Momentum delivers with more emphasis to the latter, there's something here for every true Cullum fan. Biggest difference in the Momentum over the older works: his voice has never sounded better and he uses it masterfully without losing himself to too much connickesque slickness (nothing against Harry Connick, but I'd love it if he just lost his everloving vocal mind once in a while...).And with this recording it appears that Jamie has Things To Say. That's good, too - one can't always rely on 60-year old standards to get it done (although a fresh look at Porter's "Love For $ale" might belie that point...) This is the record that can get my work day off to a jumping start, effectively clearing the cobwebs with every rhythmic, energetic, sometimesangry, sometimespoignant note.In the end, I would rather listen to a singer with something on his (or her) mind and perhaps that's the difference between an artist and a performer. No fan will argue that Jamie Cullum isn't both, so let's give the young man room to move.

Great album, though slightly too derivative
I'm a big Jamie Cullum fan and this album gives us more of the what we love. Which is not a bad thing. There are enough unique tracks to keep you interested, however many of the tracks feel like direct knock-offs of tracks from his previous album The Pursuit. Again, not a bad thing, but definitely up til now each album was so different and fresh from the last I feel he may have fallen into the inevitable "rut" that artists get into after becoming successful. Keep innovating Jamie, and I'll keep coming back for more!

Love the sound -this guy is a true talent
I love the new sound . Jamie is alway a true artist of top quality. I am happy he is doing some new material and not relying on Standards like Michael Buble . The production on this CD is top notch with great sounds and Great voice. I would highly recommend this Download.

Jamie has just never refound the brilliance of his first ...
Jamie has just never refound the brilliance of his first album, Twenty Something. Time for me to move on to other artists.

Another winner from Jamie
This is a more consistent album than his previous The Pursuit. All tracks are very solid. Recording is first rate. Only track I don't care for is the Cole Porter song "Love For Sale". Other than that it is another great cd from one of my favorite performers.

Jamie Cullum's New Albumn
It's wonderful - very creative and original. The lyrics and other info that one usually gets with a CD can be downloaded, as well, which I appreciate! Otherwise I end up looking all over the internet for the lyrics. And his lyrics are well worth reading - poetry set to music.

Espectacular
Solo por canciones como The Edge of Something ya vale la pena el dinero pagado...el disco entero es bueno (cosa que hoy en día cuesta encontrar en la mayoría de artistas)

Jamie delivers the goods once again...
.....I was skeptical buying this cd because I had heard that he did some experimental stuff with his songs ....but Jamie Cullum is Jamie Cullum....if you like his previous albums you will enjoy this one :)

Masterpiece from the master
I would like to thank Jamie for the most beautiful album I've ever heard. I was going through a rubbish time when this was released and the music on this album carried me through it all.Save Your Soul is a masterpiece. When I hear it I feel the autumn chill and can hear the leaves crunching from under my feet. Its melancholy chords make me feel reflective and emotional but at the same time completely uplifted and hopeful. So thank you, Jamie. You are an amazing artist and you should be proud of this album and all of its tracks - there isn't a single 'skipper' on here.
