Worth EVERY penny!
I went off the other good reviews and bought this as well. This is by far the best thing I've ever purchased to keep up my lawn. I have a good mixture of pine and hardwoods in my yard and this picks it all up. I was a bit skeptical of it's ability to pick up pine straw but once you play with the height adjustment it will start to grab everything. As far as assembly, it's a little bit of a pain getting the "spring" rods in (one spring rod on mine is pretty bent after getting it in but it does not hinder performance by any means)but otherwise everything is pretty simple. Just follow the instructions. Dumping the sweeper is easy and I never have to get off my mower to do so. I don't think you can get a full 20 cubic feet in it before dumping but it holds a pretty good bit before I feel like it needs to be emptied. Makes tight turns as well, just keep an eye on it like any other tow behind accessory. I can't say enough about this thing and I've only had it a week. I don't know how long it will last but if it ever breaks or falls apart I'll buy another one in a heart beat! I hate to have to rake all the time in the fall. It's a lot of work for my not so large property (.48 acre). So this saves me a lot of sweat and hard work. Seriously worth EVERY penny!!! You'll be more than satisfied even with a smaller property like mine!! Click "Add to Cart" now. This is the one you're looking for.

Good enough for homeowner, but a little quirky.
Well, I was a little tentative about getting this because the only people I see use them fall into the "Harry Homeowner" category. But, I couldn't justify getting a vacuum system. So I got it, and I've picked up a lot of leaves with it. And it'll get you a long ways in a hurry. To get an idea of how much ... one load will hold about as much as you can rake onto a 6x6 tarp (fully loaded and mounded). In 2 hours, I was able to pick up and dump 27 loads. So, that's a lot of leaves. There are some quirks, though, that made me feel like a Harry Homeowner. I just can't get a good system on using it. Solving these items would make the whole process of using it a lot better.* Have an engage/disengage for brushes. The brushes always turn. As one reviewer stated, more time is spent transporting to/from the drop-off location than picking up leaves. That means the brushes are turning more than 1/2 the time they need. Which means the nylon sweeps wear quicker than they should. If there was a reachable engage/disengage lever for the brushes, then I would transport the leave further. Instead, I opt to find beds near where the leaves were picked up to dump. But that's not where I really want the leaves. My workaround for that is to layout a super large tarp, unload the leaves on the tarp, then drag that tarp of the full load but I can only get a ~6 loads on a really large tarp, and then there's this whole connect/disconnect the sweeper, so that gets old quick.* Allow for height raise/lower from seat. The lever is a little too far to raise up while staying seated in the mower. Because the brushes are always turning, if I wanted to drop the leaves inside a bed that has *anything* in it, I need to raise the unit as high as I can get it. So, I need to get off the tractor and raise the unit, unload, then lower the unit. Most of the time I can lower the unit when I'm back on the tractor. But, I find that the whole unloading process is a little annoying, so I typically have the tractor moving forwards while I'm off it, unload the materials, then hop back on the moving tractor. A really bad idea, but the unit is a little annoying to use otherwise.* Setup a dumping area that is lower than the unit. What would really be nice is to have an area where I can backup to, lift the unit, and then all the leaves fall down into the lower area. Without that, I have to slowly pull forwards while I'm lifting the unit so that the leaves can come out behind the unit without clogging the brushes or falling in front of the unit and then getting swept back into the unit. I really feel like a Harry Homeowner during these situations. It just feels odd and I'm sure looks odd to anyone around.* Can't find a pattern to using it. Knowing from experience, the easiest way to tackle a large project is to come up with a system, and attack the problem by continuing the pattern. The thing is, I just can't get into a routine with this thing. It works almost OK in light grass and leaves because I can make enough circle to end up where I need. But, it becomes a problem when there's lots of leaves. The bag fills quickly and since the brushes are always spinning, you have to have a pre-planned route out of the mess and to the location where you're dumping. That means, you need to pre clean any spot before you dump there. Which means there's all these small clean areas. Which is a lot different than a typical mowing pattern. In a typical mow, I can set my pattern and watch out for gotchas (pots, small trees, stumps, etc). But, with the sweeper, I just get lost in it because I can't set a pattern that I can follow. I just can't figure it out.* Find something better than the drawstring method. The string is kinda clever, but it's one of those things that needs some work. My string came with a velcro attachment, but the backing tape was already off ot it, so I couldn't stick it on. In retrospect, that may be the solution to get the velcro working. I opted for wrapping the handle. That didn't work. Bumpy situations had the handle flying, then getting wrapped around the brushes and then snapping the string. Yuck. I'm more of a lever guy. More reliable. But, I'll try velcro for now.I am hoping this unit will last me ~500 loads without having to replace anything. By then, I will felt that it gave me good enough service and I will probably upgrade to a vacuum system. I'd like to get ~1000 loads out of it; the parts are well made, but I need to figure out some systems around it.

Time saver
This sweeper has cut my yard clean-up in half. I have a little over an acre in grass the rest is covered in pinestraw. It used to take about 8 hours in picking up and raking by hand and using my pickup truck to haul the debris to the back of my property where I dump it behind a screen of trees. I have longleaf pine trees and magnolia trees throughout the yard. I use a blower to blow the driveway and around the house and trees then, all I have to do is run the sweeper around and dump it as it gets full. It picks up the pinecones and sticks for me. I only need to pick up large branches that have broken off or fallen after storms. I back the sweeper up to the debris pile and dump it. When all is swept and dumped, I take a pitchfork and toss everything onto the pile (appox. time - 5 mins.) After a storm that leaves my yard full of pine needles, leaves, sticks/branches and pinecones it only takes me 4 hours to have a neat and beautiful yard again. In between storms and mowing times, I run the sweeper around about once a week for an hour to keep things looking neat and tidy. This sweeper is easy to use and took me (a middle-aged woman with no degree and simple tools) 2 hours to put together. Just make sure each time you dump it that too many pine needles have not gotten themselves wrapped around the bar on the inside of the wheels. The long ones do that sometimes when I run it over piles of needles.

Poor manufacturing quality
First, the factory packaged box arrived with the bottom taped ends broken open so small parts could be lost. Upon opening the box, I found the nut-bolt hardware packaged in a Ziploc baggie rather than the advertised blister pack. The baggie was broken open and about half of the hardware was missing. I contacted the company and they did replace the hardware but it also came in a Ziploc baggie. Assembling the hamper took 2 people and the right hand tow tube where the hamper mounts to the sweeper had welding slag on the inside of the tube requiring about 2 hours with a file to be able to mount the hamper to the sweeper. Some of the drawings in the assembly instructions are a little ambiguous and that required some disassembly and reassembly!Overall, this is very poor quality control in their manufacturing process. I would have expected this kind of quality from a Chinese made product but not from one made in the USA. Had I known this product was this poorly made, I would not have purchased it!Check the other reviews for problems others have had after the first year of use.
