After spending way too much time researching hoods, I ordered this one. It was a little more than I wanted to pay but once I saw the extremely beautiful finish of the stainless steel and seams, I felt better. This is a really great range hood. I'm a former HVAC guy so the hardest part about installing it was cutting the hole in my stucco for the horizontal wall exhaust damper. I also installed a vertical gravity backdraft damper to work as a supplement to the wall exhaust damper since they can leak over time. Both can be purchased on Amazon or eBay. The touch controls on the front panel are very good. I spent a lot of time at Home Depot, Lowes and local appliance stores looking at hoods but the fan speed buttons were either clunky, hidden or a combination of both. These arent mechanical, it acts like a touch screen so the slightest touch is all thats needed. And super easy cleanup too. Another benefit on this unit is that the high fan speed is so strong that I can open the garage door around the corner from my kitchen and it will pull fresh air from the outside and de-odorize my kitchen after fixing bacon for instance. It really is about the nicest hood I can imagine. The customer service at Proline was superb. They emailed me about every other day to ask how the installation was going and if I needed anything. Who else does that?? I ended up needing a spacer and they shipped it out N/C right away. Except for the military time clock and the on/off only lights (no high/low setting) this is exactly the range hood I was hoping for.

The media could not be loaded.  False advertising on super quiet operation, it's noisy with over 60db recorded in the video.Incomplete product, no damper, poor finish. Bad quality overall even for a product built in China.Difficult to install, it doesn't come with directions to mount, poor phone support. I Could not install it myself. Had to hire contractor to mount for $600.I'll return it because it's loud and unsafe to not being able to listen anything 5 feet away including door bell, phone ring or dog when it's on.

The hood seems generally well designed and manufactured with care. I'd give it a 5 based on the hood operation EXCEPT it doesn't include a built-in damper. For installation, I purchased a flimsy damper from Home Depot (so far, I've not been able to find another 7" damper anywhere of better quality). The damper rattles and makes much more noise than the fan itself. I was unable to get a useful suggestion from the manufacturer's support email contact.In my installation, the external exhaust it through the wall about 12" above the hood so there was no possibility of locating the damper remotely. The top of our kitchen cabinets are about 2' below the 10' ceilings so extending the exhaust through the roof is not possible.Do NOT buy this unit unless you can solve the damper problem. The Broan unit we replaced (for double the air flow at about the same noise level) had a built-in damper which made not identifiable noise. I frankly don't understand why Proline wouldn't include a damper in the unit.Their installation instructions are a bit confusing as there are details like the electrical connection which have change. Also, they provide one manual for multiple models and the only distinction is to compare the picture of the control panel. The mounting holes are not uniformly spaced from the edges and no drill template is provided so we had to hold the relatively heavy unit in position to mark the location of pilot holes. Off page references in the manual are wrong or the referenced material is actually missing. None of this was a show stopper but it must made installation more difficult than needed.Oh, and our unit includes a clock ... a 24Hour only clock ... which displays when the fan or light or on.2018/1/21: I was able to eliminate 95% of the damper noise by using heat duct tape to secure the damper in the collar which fits between the hood and the duct. Also, I added a small piece of foam weather stripping to the base of each damper 'blade'. About 1" from the bottom. This keeps the two 'blades' from bumping against each other.

First! This unit has the most annoying noise when you use any function. It is a very hi pitched beep that is startling and unnecessary. Additionally the light output is low, this is a 48" hood meant to go over a 48" range which is professional in nature. To not have a hi level of light is frustrating when trying to create works of culinary art. The overall appearance is amazing and beautiful in the kitchen and if I cared for the pure visual then I would be most pleased with this unit. However, as I am an avid home chef this is highly inadequate for my needs. It was difficult to install into the cabinet due to lack of instructions and manuel for reference. Additionally, the lack of a clock where it has just a built in timer function further adds to the irritation. I do not recommend this unit, unless you are going for a look and not functionality.

Scratch, crack founded, returned, not a quick quality maker, very disappointing.

It takes time and two people to install this unit under counter, manual is inadequate for any purpose, setting clock unclear how it can be accomplished, minutes in particular. Everything else can be discovered on YouTube videos. Missing plate to attach to the wall. All days work to accomplish that.
