*update* !! The mug still works awesome and I’m super happy with it…PLUS…I discovered that my yeti travel cover fits in it!!! This extends the 80 mins of heat to MOST OF THE DAY (at 120F) if you can get ahold of a travel lid then you’ll love it even more!!! I tried out Ember, Nextmug and a coffee cup warmer. I chose Ember and here's why: (For context I am a busy mom and I drink one cup of coffee per day. I tend to sip on that cup all morning long. I like to bring it around the house with me, often settling in one area for long periods (like to do a craft or do computer). I chose the Ember mug and here's why not the others: 1) The warmer- I couldn't bring the mug around the house with me, it had to always stay on the warmer. Also, as I drank the coffee down, it got hotter and hotter (less to heat). I had to keep turning the warmer down. Twice I forgot I left the warmer on and left the house and it stayed on all day. The warmer was also very hard to clean if you got a ring on it because it gets baked on. Literally I could not get the ring stain off. Lastly, the coffee tastes super gross after a few hours. Not sure why...but the heat from the bottom does something to it. 2) Nextmug - I didn't like the shape of the mug. It looks deep but actually half of the mug is the heating element so it's not deep. Mine kept shutting off randomly, like within 10 mins of setting it, maybe it was defective? It also seemed to get hotter as the liquid became less like the warmer did. 3) Ember - immediately I could see the temp on the app as soon as the liquid hit the cup, which I thought was NEAT! It turns its self on automatically when the coffee is put in it and goes to the last setting you set it at. It keeps it at that exact temperature regardless of how much is left in the cup (yay!). Thus it never overheats the coffee and the coffee stays delicious. I can take it all around the house and it is sturdy, looks cool and is nice and deep. It does shut off a lot sooner (from inactivity) than others, BUT it heats back up again surprisingly quick, so I'll take it. Others have voiced connectivity issues. I have an iphone14 pro and it hasn't had any trouble yet, but I just got it. For the record I was hoping I could control it via the app even when I wasn't home (like turn it on and off remotely) but it doesn't work that way. Since it's bluetooth and not wifi controlled you have to be near it for it to work. Good luck friends!

What I like: Keeps my coffee at an exact, consistent temperature once set The app lets you dial in your preferred temperature, and the mug remembers it afterward Build quality feels premium, and the copper finish looks great on my desk Works especially well when paired with a sliding lid to extend battery life With the lid, I rarely need to use the charging coaster while drinking What could be better: The app can be a bit annoying to use, especially during initial setup Battery life is short without a lid, so slow sippers will want the charging plate within reach Once everything is set up, the app becomes mostly hands-off, and the mug just does its job. If you like your coffee or tea at a precise temperature and tend to sip slowly, this mug—especially with a lid—has been a daily essential for me.

The original review was accurate, but now that I've had the mug for 6 months (Originally 3 star), I have to reduce its rating... The mug itself is great, works well, and does what it says. It keeps my drinks at the temperature I set it to. The reason I'm reducing the rating here for 2 reasons. 1) Trying to reach an actual person or something more intelligent than an automated help desk, is seeming to be nearly impossible. - To expand on this: I have been unable to find any contact information to report any issues I do have with the mug or software (I have no issues with the mug so far, but the software annoys me to no end). 2) The software for the mug is so far below par, that they might as well just have a digital display on the side to show the temp and just set it that way. - Let me expand on this: a) If you don't keep your mug paired, ie: carry it with you 100% of the time, anytime it isn't paired, it forgets its pairing, and you have to go through the pairing procedure again to reconnect it. My car is a 2014, and the BlueTooth in it remembers my phone when I start it up, but this mug cannot. b) There's no way to override the heating to ON, if the sensor doesn't trigger to say the mug isn't empty, it won't turn on, even in the software Bluetooth connection. Through some digging, it states that it determines if it's empty by the significant difference in temperature: The mug is cold, pour warm to hot fluid in it, and it detects the temp change and determines it's not empty. I understand this is probably a safety feature to prevent the mug from burning out, but there should be some way to turn it on when you put room temp liquid into a room temp mug. (I usually make a batch of tea, and if I don't finish it all in a day, I use it the next day, I shouldn't have to microwave the first cup just to get it hot enough for the mug to realize it's full.) So in summary: -The mug is absolutely great, so far it's held up fine, with no chips/scratches. Works great to keep temp set. -Software needs a LOT of work. The biggest issue is the Bluetooth connection/protocol. I shouldn't have to re-pair it every day just to connect to the mug to change it from Tea to coffee, or some other temp for a different drink. -Better contact forms, for when you can't resolve the problem via automated help. I'm hoping that by rating this at only 1 star, maybe I'll get a way to contact the company, or at least they'll read this review and take the issues under advisement. Maybe even make a suggestions/complaints form to get these issues noticed so they know what to work on. Until I see a way to contact a live person, even if it's just email, or something simple, I cannot rate this higher than a 1. IF I were having a real issue with this mug (like it not working) I'd be out the money it cost me to buy it. Con's: It's for Right Handers, if you're left-handed, (or hold the mug in your left hand), the LED is on the back side where you can't see it (less of a problem while you're actually holding it), but if you set it down for grabbing with your left hand you can't see the LED. The software is a little glitchy. I tried setting it to Celsius for a little bit, then when I tried to switch it back to Fahrenheit, it wouldn't switch, I had to reset the app completely to default to get it back to Fahrenheit. Couldn't find a contact form for issues (like the above software glitch), or suggestions.

I bought two of the 14oz white Ember Mugs. The mugs are very reliable and work as advertised. However, there is a problem with the chargers. After using them for a few months one of the mugs stopped working. Turns out the charger charging “pins” had gotten depressed and was not making contact. No idea how that happened but my husband used a small tweezer and was able to pull it out so that it works. Every few weeks it happens again and he pulls the pin out again. But he said this last time the pin got depressed so deep that he did not think he could get a grip on it. He eventually managed it. So today the same thing has happened the other charger. This one is rarely used. I’m not happy. This is clearly a defect with these chargers. To make it worse I came to Amazon to just order a new charger and they no longer have white chargers. I gave these mugs a rave review on Amazon when I first got them, but I wanted to make potential buyers aware of this issue. I just read many reviews that mention this same issue so I am sure that Ember is aware of it. Mug are great, chargers can be defective. Obviously without the charger the mug does not work.

we bought this for my husband for father’s day, as we have a small baby and often can’t drink our coffee at once. He loves this! It’s easy to use with the app, and he said the temperature stays consistent. He can take a sip, give the baby a bottle and change him, take another sip, play with the baby, go back and the coffee is still at the perfect temperature. I purchased on sale for $99 which felt like a good price. It does have to be hand washed, but the material of the cup makes it super easy to clean.

Had an Ember previously before they put ceramic lining inside. Loved it but bottom flaked off because of spoon. Purchased another brand and was very disappointed. Went back to Ember because of ceramic lining. Pricey but worth it. Highly recommend.

(Updated review after exceptional customer service) This mug keeps my black coffee at the perfect temperature for about 2 hours. Love it. My wife gets a bit of film after some time as she puts creamer in her tea, but still uses it so can't be that bad. I've had this mug just over 2 years. Product started malfunctioning after the warranty was up. I spoke to someone directly from Ember and we attempted some troubleshooting over the course of about a week. There was clearly an issue with the battery which the service representative said is unusual. We eventually came to the conclusion that the product needed replacement and he offered to replace at a reduced "after warranty claim" cost. When I went to pay the reasonable cost I was informed they were replacing free of charge as a goodwill gesture. Excellent customer service.

The Ember Smart Mug 2 can keep your tea/coffee at the perfect temperature for hours, making every sip as good as the first. However if you like very very hot tea then this product is not for you. Because usually we like tea to be very hot. In short it does not give you a boiling hot tea. just enough to keep it not cold.

I really enjoy using this Mug my only concern is that it changes to 100%. Within 5 minutes it on 75% charge and only then its works correctly and slowly discharge as it keep my drink hot.
