Singer IR10 Electric Immersion Water Heater 1500 Watts with Shock Proof Body and Copper Heating Element (Blue)

In our building complex we have solar water heater (and no electric geyser). While the solar water heating system results in lower electricity bills, in cloudy monsoon weather this becomes a problem. I ordered this immersion water heater to boil water in current monsoon season. While overall its a value for money, I have the following observations:1) Being a 1500W heater, it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to boil a standard 20L bucket filled with cold water.2) It is recommended in the user's manual that the rod be immersed in the centre of the bucket and not along the edge of the bucket. Hence you'll need to find something appropriate to place along the bucket's diameter. The rod comes with a hook near its bakelite base which can be used to hang it in the centre. I used a 50cm long, 2cm wide & 8mm thick wooden plank to immerse the rod.3) In the manual its also recommended that a steel bucket be used instead of plastic one.4) It uses 15 ampere socket, so it is quite an exercise moving the bucket near 15amp power point.Overall the immersion heater's build quality is good and proves to be a value for money.

I have used a number of Immersion Rods since my college days. I guess this must be my 6th one. I can easily tell you that this is the best of all I've used. The product is sturdy and it's finishing are perfect. Usually a IR's handle becomes loose overtime with regular use. Besides the improperly sealed IR circuitry case allows vapor to damage the product. Both these issues are addressed here. It's handle quality and it's circuitry plastic sealing are excellent! This makes the IR very durable and long lasting.UPDATE AS ON 29/01/2018======================I first bought the 1000 Watt variant and it lasted a good 40 months. Now I have purchased the 1500 Watt variant. The notable advantage of this variant is faster heating. Besides I noticed that the company has improved the quality of the product compared to the 2014 variant. This gives me the impression that this heater will last even longer. So I will reiterate that this is the best IR heater on sale!POST SCRIPT===========In my opinion, it is totally crazy when people try to check the heat of the water while the heater is operational. This heater doesn't cause electric shocks but still it is not right for people to do that! Science is a strange thing. From my personal experience, especially in winter, due to the climatic conditions, I got slight electric shocks from touching taps or other metal objects and yes even human beings! Reasons aside, it is foolish to come in direct contact with water when the heater is operational. One can easily know when the water is heated by simply keeping tab on time. Additionally one can simply feel the heat or even see the vapours coming out of the water to know that the water is hot enough. So please refrain from touching the water when the heater is operational!

Perfect product, Extra heavy duty performance. It comes with 1year warranty but run a long time. I have another this same immersion and using it from last 4to5 years or so. Stylish designed product. 10ltr water takes 6 to7 mim to get warm to take bath.Must buy. Recommended.

If you are buying knowing it needs big plug point they go for it. 10 minutes water boils but it consumer lot of power. It's heavy and need a supporter to drop in the water. I recommend to go for smaller which fits in to regular switch board. For bachelor's or those staying in small rooms, finding big plug points is difficult.

The water gets hot quite quickly. The body is sturdy. The anchor given to suspend the product in bucket is very good. Overall it proved a very good purchase for me. Go ahead. Buy it. Thank you Singer company.This isn't paid review. I purchased this product 7 months back and writing the review now.

Very convenient with plug that fits into the regular sized socket. If used for a larger bucket of water, I need to switch it off after 20 minutes and stir the water to mix the cool water at the bottom with the top heated water and reset for further heating. Used it on a plastic bucket and one day a little sie portion melted because the bucket wasn't filled up enough.The product works really well, reduced a star because I expected it to heat sooner (but it could just be a misplaced expectation from a 1000W immersion rod :)). No other problems yet

I bought this item in 2018 and I'm still using it till today (2023). I bought it together with bajaj immersion rod, but as the latter was broken last year due to mishandling, I bought this singer rod again.

I hold a MS in electrical engineering from NEw York. I work as a senior VP for a Fortune 500 medical device firm with quality and regulatory. I have complete authority and knowledge to make this assessment.This product is a potential life threatening hazard. It is unsafe.We ordered a unit, which burnt out after 1 week of use. (See image). Given singer's reputation, I assumed it was a one off bad item, which got through the QA process. My mom warned me, she felt tingling whenever she dipped her hand in the water bucket.We ordered a replacement and the 2nd unit has the same problem. My mom got hurt using it! I personally did a simple test. I inserted the product in to the water filled bucket, then held a electric line tester to see if there was electricity in the water.THE TESTER TURNED ON SHOWING THERE WAS ELECTRICITY IN THE WATER!!See image.Do not buy this product. If you own it, trash it! If you have been hurt using it, sue Singer. I will testify for you!
