reliable if you understand how it works.
Functions with one exception. If someone gets in a hurry and is pushing on the door before this activates it will not open. There can't be any force at all. I even had to modify my door frame a bit so that the door, when at rest, is not pushing on the latch otherwise it would not open. After it was installed and modifications were complete it has been reliable for almost a year now. I have it powered through a battery backup system so it will work when the power goes out. I recommend this for home installs.

works well and pretty easy for a pro to install
would be 5 stars but I dont like the noise it makes when it operates.I am a picky old carpenter. so some things just bug me. the strike does operate well.the finish on the piece is good. I think it may be difficult for a home owner or a handyman to install.I am a satisfied customer. also I think the price is right

Okay for experimenting, but not for security
I purchased this just to experiment with RFID technology with the arduino and a relay and it served it's purpose for that. By no means would I use it for an actual install however as it is flimsy (the plate itself can be flexed by hand) and unnecessarily large vertically. It's cheap and works well mechanically and electrically, so it is great to use if you are just experimenting, but for an application where security is a concern, you are going to want to look elsewhere.

ok but short wires
This is OK, but the wires are short. unfortunately not much choices on the market.

Locked out in several ways.
Unnecessarily long -- runs into deadbolt plate. But worse, it doesn't actively retract upon energy. No directions with the item, no schematic...it had a checkoff label that suggested it was DC but no polarity marking so that was confusing and I've built ham radios. What does it cost to print a little piece of paper for gosh sakes ? When powered up (either polarity), iIt just 'gives' but NOT if you push against it too soon...then it does nothing. We know from experience many people will push on a door too soon. So it will not work with our door, or with most doors since ours is pretty standard. If we have a defective unit, then it is a quality control issue--these should be pretty durn simple to make for pete's sake: an electromagnet and a pivoting piece of metal spring loaded. Very disappointed and maybe too late to return. Will contact vendor if possible.

But for traffic control it works great and is not too expensive
If you are looking at a high security area look forsomething a little stronger. But for traffic control it works great and is not too expensive. This is our second one and have been using the other for over a year. We got te second one for the grandson as he wanted it for his bed room to keep sisters out. It works.

Have purchased several. Door opener works but it is not as robust as I thought it should be. However it does the job.
