Q: Whats the base? What kind of fibers? Is it fine or pellets based?

Its wood based and very light. But kind of mixed granules with fine shavings. It can last longer than any litter you can buy in Amazon. People claiming that it gets stuck to cat's paws and fur is not correct. It does stuck a little bit but it falls very soon. To be honest this litter is far better than any clumping litter in terms of safety to our cats in long term health. Thats why I buy this. Don't buy the arguments of litter stucking to cats and falls outside litter box. Its very easy to clean. So I got a bigger litter box and the problem was solved overnight. My cat got used to it and adjusted in just a few days. Mine is a Traditional Persian. More importantly its natural and biodegraddable with zero hazardess chemicals.

Q: Are the wood shavings on the softer or harder side? The ones in my pack are on the softer side & I was wondering if this is normal/my pack is faulty?

I've been using this litter for years and haven't found anything even close to this in quality. The wood shavings are supposed to be soft so they dont hurt the cats paws and are easy to flush down. Your pack sounds absolutely normal.

Q: How does this work during monsoon? Does it form lumps?

Yeah, it will continue clumping, that's not an issue. But it does absorb some moisture from the atmosphere too, so its effectiveness does go down a bit. Only in a highly humid regions though. Not a whole lot, but enough to make you sit up and notice and try other cat litters. At least that's what I did.
