Deodorant Stones of America: Thai Crystal Deodorant, 4.25 oz (Pack of 2), Packaging May Vary

Deodorant arrived January 31, 2025.I’m writing review after 2 weeks of use.For decades I used unscented gel stick deodorant and antiperspirant (Dry Idea & Mitchum), and they both worked great.In a strange conversation with a friend the topic of skin irritants came up. And along with it the topic of deodorant. I wasn’t looking to switch brands or type of deodorant, but what my friend was using intrigued me. He had been using this brand (Thai) for over 8 years. The idea of using a salt crystal that feels like a stone, and appears to deposit nothing on your skin sparked my curiosity. So, I bought it just to experiment. I couldn’t tell from the Amazon picture the shape or size of it, so I included it here. According to my friend, the stone lasts for years, we’ll see. I hadn’t read a single review prior to purchase. When I decided to write my own review , I went back and read other reviews to see what issues people had.Here’s my experience with the product.First off, this is only a deodorant and not an antiperspirant. I never really liked the idea of plugging up my pores anyway.The stone is only affective if the stone and / or the skin is wet (very damp) when applying.I found out very quickly that for this stone to work you need to throughly and repeatedly rub the stone over the skin. The stone glides so smoothly over the skin that you don’t feel like you’re doing anything. What takes 3 seconds with stick deodorant to apply per side, will take 20-30 seconds with this stone to be affective. At first I used the stone like a stick, maybe spending 5 seconds per side. It did not do a lasting job until I increased the application time to over 20 seconds per side using a wet stone. It doesn’t seem to be necessary to wet the stone more than once. But it does help if applying after showering.I like the very clean feel of what seems like nothing under my arms. It is winter here in Wisconsin so I’m not perspiring like in the summer. However, I have been exercising shoveling snow, and hiking, etc… The stone has kept me odor free when applying daily. Though I haven’t had to re-apply it, I could imagine it necessary if perspiring for hours at a time, as it doesn’t stick to your skin like gel antiperspirants do.This deodorant stone has no smell at all. Even unscented stick antiperspirants have a little something. I wear mostly cotton shirts, and what I’ve noticed if I sweat, is kind of a very faint cotton linen smell. Kind of refreshing from the usual chemical. I haven’t used it long enough to know if it will yellow cotton shirts under the arm like other deodorants can, but it seems unlikely.Though I haven’t experienced any issues, here’s a few precautions from other reviewers.Don’t drop the stone or it can crack.Don’t store wet stone with cover on. It can mold.Hold stone not the base when applying, or the base might come loose from stone.As long as I throughly rub the stone over every square millimetre of skin and even extend the application slightly beyond the underarm itself, it has been very effective.I am impressed with its effectiveness and pleased to use a product without aluminium and other chemicals. I will continue to use this deodorant stone and see how it goes when summer comes around. I like to say, “I’d buy again” but, with its projected longevity, it might be awhile. 😀

Update 4/2018It's been about 8 months now that I've been using this deodorant and wanted to say that 1 will last a year if use it with water to roll on. Now I'm excited to say that I've figured out how to use those little bits that broke off and the last bits of my stick. A couple months back I ground up a couple chunks, about the size of a quarter and added the powder and little pieces that didn't grind up into a 6 oz bottle of purified water. Let that sit for a week at least. Then I fill up a little spray bottle I got from the dollar store, and spray it on after every shower. I spray a little extra and on my feet to. It dries fast in summer, doesn't stain and works great. No odors at all. Even in dry heat.This idea now will last me a very long time because it takes such small bits to melt over time in water and I have 2 and 1/ 4 sticks left with pieces to spare.What I'm most excited about is this spray idea is much easier and faster for me plus I can put it on my feet and my son's feet to. So much faster and no wasting piece's that break off..I've had my crystal deodorant for about 3 months now and use it every night after a shower. From day 1 there has been no smell, even though I sweat a lot, especially in summer time. I haven't had irritation or problems. When I get out of the shower I wet my arm pits first, then run a little water on the crystal deodorant then rub it under my arm like I would with any other deodorant (except I rub it about 20 times for each arm pit).No staining, irritation, discolor or anything and it dries fast.I'd recommend. I'm not sure how long one stick will last me but am guessing about a year. Either way I wouldn't go back to regular deodorant again, because it never worked to keep me from smelling (within 12 hours I was smelling with regular deodorant and with this one I have no odor after 24 hours) and regular deodorant sometimes irritated my skin or burned after I shaved (this one does not burn).I'm going to use this deodorant for however long it is available and will not go back to the chemical stuff again..I've added photos of the 2 new ones I got and my old one that I bought locally. The new ones are broken but usable. These last a long time. A note of caution though. When you first start using these they burn a little if you moisten with hot water and if you over do it by applying more than once in a day. Otherwise, there is no burning or irritation.

I still sweat using this, but there is no odor. Regular deodorant by days end you can smell you need a shower. Also does not stain your clothes.

I was skeptical. No aluminum all natural. Excellent value for the money, one stone lasts forever. And sold as a 2 pack. I've been using this for weeks, the best working natural deodorant I've found. No skin irritations. Design makes application and upkeep easy.
