Exactly what we needed!
My 75-year-old husband needs a knee replacement but for health reasons will not be able to get one for months, if ever. Getting up out of our sofa caused him extreme knee pain. I added foam to the cushions to make them firmer and easier for him to get up off of but that wasn't enough. We considered a lift chair but the cost is prohibitive and we were concerned that not using his own muscles to stand would weaken them. We realized that if he could have something firm to push against while standing he can do so with little to no pain. This thing is perfect! It's relatively easy to put together, it's sturdy, it's unobtrusive, and it works! Highly recommended for someone who still has enough upper body strength to push themselves up and doesn't want to spend the money or find room for a lift chair.

Actually works
The picture showed the couch railing under the first cushion but by placing it under the middle cushion makes it able to use any of the cushions. It is stable and works amazingly well.

Not perfect, but close!!!
Update: My mom has used these now for almost two months. Very single nurse or therapist that has come into our home has loved them and why they do for her!We have found this to be beyond helpful. When my mom had a stroke, I had to find ways to help her keep her independence and this has been awesome! She is able to use the tools she has learned in rehab and apply them here at home.I assembled this in 10 minutes or so. It was easy and the build is intuitive. It is adjustable depending on the size of your couch/chair cushion and the height that works best for you. Note: This fits right under your couch/chair cushion. It does not attach to your furniture.Everyone loves it! It makes getting up easier for my mom. It helps prevent skin tears and bruises from people trying to help. It also helps her keep her muscle tone improved because she is not dependent on others to help her stand up.Great price point with overall wrest quality! Very helpful for us and highly recommended!

Didn't work for us
I bought this for my elderly mom who is having trouble getting up from the couch. She hated it. She could not push herself up using this device and was afraid that the legs in the front could be a tripping hazard. I sent it back and bought some 3" risers to lift up the whole couch and she is very happy with that.

Very handy!
Bought these for my mom. She's having trouble standing from the chair workout help. Before these we had to help pick her up sometimes. Now she can use these to help push her up on her own. Sturdy and strong, she loves them.

Great for knee surgery patients
My 80 y/o mother just had knee surgery and was having a terrible time getting into and out of her couch.I bought her this lift assist device and it has been phenomenal! She said it was the best thing she's had after her surgery. This is especially great for people who have sofas that are a little softer and it's harder to get leverage to get up or down. Very sturdy, safe, super easy to put together. Adjustable. No complaints here. This should be a must-get for anyone getting knee/hip surgery or anyone in general having a tough time getting on and off their couch.

Didn't fit my recliner.
Bought for assistance with the recliner in our entertainment room, just had bi-lateral knee replacement.Unit arrived on time, was packed OK, although in the typical gordian knot - we both tried for an hour total to get it back into the box for return. Pretty poorly made for the price paid - I would have expected a more premium product - still quite useable; although I can see where bolts used to secure parts might damage leather - if it had been possible to install it.Big thing, however, was the fit. I have a pair of typical power recliners, seat cushion (Squab) has a couple of "Wings" in front of chair arms, also has a sewn in strip of leather between the back of the seat cushion and the recliner back, both to support your butt, and to keep from losing anything down the back. This, plus the fact that the product frame had only discreet adjustment, meant that the frame could not be installed alongside the seat cushion, and would need to ride on top of the cushion. Two things wrong with this, one, you have a square steel bar at your lower back, the other is that the chair now does not recline - which was the whole point of the exercise for me.Returning, disappointed with both fit (primarily) and price for what you receive - a power lift seat cushion is $25.00 more. MIght work well in other applications, just not for me.

What a great product
I have severe arthritis and was having a hard time getting up from the couch. We live in an A-frame, so we don't have enough room to put in a lift chair. I am so glad that I found this product. It has really helped me to be able to push myself up with my arms and not depend so much on my knees and legs. It was quick and easy to put together and install. The best part is that it is so flexible. I run a home business and I use a Desk Mate tray to put my computer at just the right place. This product can be adjusted perfectly so I can use both. Thanks for designing such a great product!

Just what the doctor ordered!!
It was very easy to assemble and does the job of providing supports for getting up from a couch. Very sturdy.

Very sturdy
I bought this item as it went to the floor and I felt it would be more suitable than a previous one that I had bought. And I was absolutely right. My son installed it, it didn't take long. It's quite safe for me.

Works great
I wasn’t sure what to expect after some of the reviews but it has worked great for my Dad. He loves his couch and wouldn’t part with it even though it took him forever to get off of it. With this he grabs the handles, pulls himself forward then easily gets himself up. He is 91 years old and it has made quite a difference for him. It is definitely sturdy enough.

Satisfactory
A little finicky to put together but I figured it out. Even with the screws fully tightened it still feels a little shoogly but it might just need time to get used to. I would definitely supervise whoever is using it at least at first as my mum feels a little unsure about it and I want to make sure it will be steady to support her as she stands up. I think the hand grips could use another couple of holes so you can raise them a little. I am definitely pleased it sits flush with the sofa as I was worried it might stick out like a trip hazard but it doesn’t seem like that will be an issue. A little padding on the hand holds might be an idea but overall I’m satisfied with it.
