Dell DW316 USB DVD-RW Drive

Very good product

Works better than the DVD drive I had in 2003, and all the laptop DVD drives I ever had. Pleasantly surprised. Doesn't support CD-ROM XA Mode 2 though, so you can't read "Enhanced CDs", which have both CD audio and data.

I am using a macbook pro and I was sceptical buying this item but I took the risk. It was a worthy risk. It works perfectly with macbook pro without any problem and u can carry it anywhere as it's lightweight. But you need a safety pin to open the disc player. It's not mentioned in description. Still giving 5 starts because I'm satisfied.

Dell is usually known for quality products..this DVD/CD player is good but you might feel overpriced. shortage of such products may be one of reason for higher price,but overall if you want to buy this product go for it without any doubt. in this case all three involve parties are excellent...ie 1.AMAZON 2.PRODUCT(DELL) 3.SELLER

This external dvd drive looks very premium in the picture but believe me in reality, it is very shabby and made with cheap plastic. I bought it thinking it would be made of premium material and be very sleek. It is thin but not as thin as shown in the pic. It comes with a cd which you will have to run and install it onto your computer in order for other dvds to work. When you press the button, the dvd slot comes out rather suddenly and makes quite a lot of noise. Dvds work fine but after 20-30 mins of run time, the disk starts making noise and the drive gets quite warm. This is not a bad option but is clearly not the best. Don't get fooled by the premiul looks because it is clearly not. There should be better options.

Really good service Efficient

I used the Dell Slim DW316 Disc drive in conjunction with my Dell Latitude Windows 11 5420 Laptop and EDIFIER speaker system coupled to a decent sized BENQ screen for playing DVDs and CDs and it works very well so up to now I am very pleased with the results. I initially tried a much cheaper external Disc drive but it lasted no more than a day before breaking down so after a bit of research and paying a bit extra it proved to be was well worth it in this case.

I keep a digital database recipe file. I have collected recipes in from around the world. I also have digital cookbook collections and an extensive library of cooking hints, data, conversion charts, etc. all in PDF format and well organized. It's my own personal collection. All total, more than 18,000 items by count, and more data than a standard CD or DVD will hold. But I do know, this data will easily fit on a movie style Dual Layer DVD disc. This unit is a DVD+RW -DL. So I keep my collection on a portable solid state "tetra" disc drive. The standard DVD+RW on my laptop does not write the capacity I need. Adding this drive, with a simple included USB cable was the perfect answer. Opening two file windows in my laptop and copying the contents from the tetra drive to this unit worked flawlessly. I can only imagine losing this data, but instead I now have a great backup solution to DVD disc. Also, there was a suite of editing software included, which I plan to load for editing film, music, data, etc. My next project will be to database the almost 600 DVD and Blu-ray titles I have stored in my home theater, along with several older VHS titles. I don't know how large this listing will be, but I am sure I can write it to a Dual Layer dDVD disc now. I am very pleased with this product.

Hola. Recibí este producto hace meses y lo he estado usando para rippear DVDs que teng antiguos. Es reconcid por un PC con Linux sin problemas. Producto recomendable.
