After shooting with my older EF 70-200mm 1:2.8 L IS USM for years, I started to notice that my images were softer than those taken with my other (newer) Canon lenses. I had it cleaned and recalibrated and while the results were better, I realized that it was probably time to replace it with the most current version.The new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens is somewhat lighter and MUCH sharper. I just returned from an out of state nature shoot where I used this lens extensively hand holding it mostly at 200mm. All the images are tack sharp with excellent colour and detail.The 70-200 has always been my 'go-to' lens for many situations... I love the flexibility to choose either lovely bokeh backgrounds or excellent depth of field depending on the situation and the results I'm trying to achieve. This is a GREAT lens and although it's a bit pricy, it has already proven to be a professional tool that does exactly what it's supposed to.I'm really loving my new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens and am glad that I didn't 'cheap out' with a less expensive competitors product.

Well, I'm in love with this lens.Compression, image quality, CA, sharpness, contrast - all of it is on point. It's well built, balanced, feels solid, has a nicer "whiter" finish than it's predecessor, takes a 77mm filter, comes with lens hood (as I think all lenses should) - and did I mention this thing takes some seriously crispy photos?I dabble in portraiture, but I'm way more into nightscape/landscape photography, and let me tell you this lens is now used more than the 24-70 or the 85mm. Simply put, if you have the spare cash and want a phenomenal tele, get this lens and thank yourself later. Pat yourself on the back, you made a sound investment.If you really want to see if it's worth it before you buy one, go rent one for a weekend and just have fun. The moment you send it back, you'l be wanting to buy your very own.I regret nothing about dropping a couple grand on this hefty piece of glass.

Excellent lens for just about any type of photography. Using it for portraits and sports for my daughters. Very sharp, focuses fast and beautiful bokeh. The 200mm focal length is a bit short for flag football shooting from the sidelines or the end zones, a bit of cropping does the job. I’ve paired it up with a 6D2 and it’s a good combo. Worth every bit of the $1900. Not as good as the 200mm f2L but that’s a special lens with a high price tag. F 2.8 is just fast enough for shooting under the lights of the field. I used it with the 1.4 tele converter stopped down and it was adequate.

This lens is the cat's meow.... one of the trinity of canon 2.8 lenses. You just can't go wrong with this lens...I also have the 24-70 f2/8L Version II. the second lens of the Canon 2.8 trinity. If you can't afford this lens i also own the 70-200 F4 version of this lens. it is also great.

The legendary reputation this lens has is well deserved. Sharp and fast, it is the perfect compliment to my Canon camera.

Love this lens. I have been drooling over this for a few years. I put it in my "box" to purchase a few days later when the credit card billing cycle changes (we always pay off our cards) to the next month. When I went to look at it again, it was on sale for 20% off. I got over $400 off the $2000+ price tag. Surprise!!!I have had it for a few weeks now and could not be happier.
