My husband is British. We drink a lot of tea. We also have our own well which produces safe, but nasty sulphur-smelling water. First we treat the water with a bleach and salt system in the garage to protect our pipes and ourselves, and then the water comes into the house and to our bar sink. There, one more time, we filter all our drinking and some of our cooking water, with the InSinkErator HWT-F1000S Hot Water Tank and Filtration System. It's not necessary for health or safety, but it does make the water taste a whole lot better, and it is probably wiser not to be ingesting all that salt and bleach. I should also add that we have had our water tested and it is fine without the additional InSinkErator filtration. But, I am fussy about how water tastes; it makes a difference to me to have pure water in drinks and cooking.I grew up in NH with Well water which came up though 200 feet of pure granite and sand. Fancy bought waters don't taste as good as our NH water. A visiting PHD Water Engineer couldn't believe the purity of our NH water! Holding a glass to the window, he remarked, "but there is no particulate matter!" So, you can see, I am spoiled when it comes to water. The InsinkErator Hot Water Tank and Filtration System only falls slightly short of producing New Hampshire pure water. In other words, the filtered water is just about perfection, and that is starting with substandard water to begin with. Once filtered , the water loses all traces of stinky aftertaste, bleach, salt, sulphur, etc... Until we bought this system, I would only drink bottled water, and only certain brands. Now, I drink tap water and like it!Which brings us to the tap itself: the InSinkErator F-HC2200SN Indulge Antique Hot and Cold Water Dispenser. I chose the tap because it coordinated with the country look of my Beadboard kitchen. Since the main prep sink has a brushed nickel faucet, all the cupboard knobs and pulls are brushed nickel and the appliances are stainless steel, I wanted this Tap to coordinate. I chose the satin nickel finish. It goes nicely with all the stainless and brushed nickel. You never know if "satin" or "brushed" mean the same or not, it depends on the manufacturer. It was a relief that this was the right choice. It's good there are so many finishes to choose from.It took less than two hours for my husband to install the system. He has done some plumbing before, but this is not his field of expertise, so he was pleasantly surprised that the installation went off without a hitch. Our bar sink counter already had a hole drilled.How do I use the instant hot water tap? All the time, it's FAST! We've had an electric kettle forever, which is a whole lot faster than boiling water on the stove, but this tap puts an electric kettle to shame. Hot, 200 degree water in an Instant - Immediately - No waiting. Fancy a spot of tea? Warm the cup, add the teabag and fill the cup. It works equally well for loose teas with a tea ball or through a strainer. There is more than enough hot water to fill teapots or cooking pots. It's wonderful for hot cocoa or instant oatmeal. Why boil water for rice? I use the filtered 200 degree water for most cooking. I use a Pyrex measuring cup to transport the hot water to the stovetop. I should add I have a pot filler, but for some things you just want the pure, filtered water or the 200 degree water to speed things up. The hot water is great for soaking off labels or making sure things are really clean or disinfected. I could imagine a young mother would find it useful for rinsing off pacifiers.If you want the water to come out slowly, pull the lever forward; if you want the water faster, push the lever back. The cold water lever will lock in position when pushed back, this is useful for filling pitchers to make cold drinks or filling the coffee pot with pure, filtered water. This tap and filtration is much faster at delivering water than a reverse osmosis system. This is one of the main reasons we chose it. The replacement filters are easy to order from Amazon and are $30 maybe twice a year. Sometimes I will hear the rumble of the hot water heating up, but it is not as noisy as the icemaker, which is next to the bar sink.We enjoy not only the pure, filtered water every day, but not a day goes by when we don't use the hot water feature several times. Having on-demand instant 200 degree water is a not only a convenience, but a luxury that I now can't imagine living without.

The entire unit needs to be replaced, the leaking is not an installation error. It worked perfectly for 2 years. BUT insinkerator customer service is AMAZING and with proof of purchase they are sending me a new unit immediately. Great experience from insinkerator.

I'm surprised how this product has such high ratings (4 stars).Let me put this into a perspective that everyone should relate to. I'm sure I felt more compelled to purchase this water heater mostly because there isn't any other choice - up to 210F... instantly. Yes, these instant hot water heaters are a dime a dozen but this one is the only one that reaches 210F. Try to look for one. You won't find an alternative that will reach this temperature. Most will reach 145-167F. For most applications, this should be fine, but my application is different. I'm currently building a coffee bar in my kitchen and I want instant 190-200F water out the tap so I can instantly make tea and ramen (yeah, don't judge), and also cheat and plumb 200F water directly into my espresso machine, so the 210F is very important. However, since I rated this product 1-star, now I will have to rethink my coffee bar.I can't comment on the faucets, since I have no interest in the faucets, since none of them match my theme, and if they do, they cost double what you can get them for from the big box stores.First of all, as most people who rated this very low is the absence of the main connector. The day the unit arrived, I opened the box and realized it needed an special connector for the cold water inlet, so the second thing I did was dig through the box to look for this connector. After looking through the manual, it does state this connector is NOT included, so I can't knock the product for not including it, but it feels kinda shady for the manufacturer to NOT include it and also don't include a part number or even a description, except "clip connector". Yes, lots of connectors clip. Luckily I read another reviewer and mentioned getting the correct connector at freshwatersystems.com, and I ordered a couple connectors and they arrived promptly.Once the connectors arrived, I proceeded to install the unit in a temporary condition before I committed to it. Yes, I did connect everything correctly, according to the instructions, which is only about 4-5 steps. However, I did not connect the vent, which was a mistake. More on this later.So the connectors are very short. What does this mean? There is one clip connector which is a tiny bit wiggly, which means it's a little small or a little out of spec. The outlet is a plastic barb, which start underneath the enclosure, so instead of maybe 1 inch of barb-tube contact, plus a hose clamp, there's a 1/2"-3/4" stump. Well, the hose isn't very stable with such a short amount of tubing, plus the barb is plastic, which doesn't give me much confidence to cinch the hose clamp tight enough. Now for the vent tube. In America, we get 3/16" and 1/4" ID tubing. 3/16" is too small. 1/4" is too big, so just for testing, I omitted the vent. what could possibly go wrong? By the way, I used a 1/4" ID tube and a 3/8" hose clamp... still loose.The instructions say to pump in water to check for leaks before you plug in the power. So, I turned on the water and the unit starts gurgling. It gurgles for about 2 minutes, then you can hear it fill up. Once it's full, water started shooting out the vent, about 8 feet in the air. I hooked it up in my machine shop so I have high ceilings. Yes, 8 feet in the air, so I turned off the water. It continued to shoot out for about 30 seconds... so it spit out... maybe half of the water capacity once you turn off the water supply. Why is this? The power wasn't even plugged in. Once the vent tube was connected and no leaks were visible, I plugged in the power.Ok, this unit doesn't even have a LED to let you know it's got power and running. The only indication that it's working is the water from the outlet starts to feel warm, or getting warm. You can't even hear the water boiling inside because 1) it appears the water never gets hot enough to boil, 2) the unit constantly gurgles with and without power and water is constantly gushing out the vent tube... constantly. This can't be normal. Next, the water never got very hot. My espresso machine is 1500W and gets water to 200F (granted only 5oz). I hadn't measured it but I'd stay it hadn't reached 110F @ 750W in the hour I was testing it. There also seems to be something blocking flow because no matter what, I never got more than a low pressure trickle from the output port, yet the vent is shooting out cold water.Am I describing a faulty unit? I have no idea, but with my experience verifying the experience of all the negative reviews, I either got a faulty unit, their quality control is really bad, or the product is just poorly designed to begin with.I am the type of person who will modify something to make it work or make it better, however, at $240 for a new SOMETHING that doesn't work, plus it seems like the tanks don't last more than 2-3 years anyway, it's not worth it. This product is going to be returned.Here is something no one has mentioned. The second day, I decided to test it again. It started leaking, everywhere, some places seem to be from within the unit. There was no way I was going to plug the power in. I have no idea what is wet inside. As I started undoing all the water hoses, water would start coming out the hoses as I applied pressure on the housing. How? I thought there was a stainless steel tank inside? Why would applying pressure to the housing change water pressure from inside? I am tempted to open up the unit to find out why but I won't. I want to return this unit and get my money back, so I'll never know why this is happening.So, stay away from this product. Don't bother chasing the clip connectors. I bought two connectors and now I won't be using them since the heater is going back to Amazon.Today, I bought a 2.5 gallon tankless water heater from the big box store which has the same connectors, cold water in, hot water out, plus an overpressure port. The connectors are brass 1/2 NPT and the overpressure port does not leak. It was cheaper than the InSinkErator product. it is rated to a max 165F but it IS delivering much hotter water, but not hot enough for my application, but, it's still hotter than my house water heater, so it's still a step forward.

This was a great replacement and was the exact same model. It was easy to change and is working so far just great. Love the convenience of having instant hot water, but unfortunately, these tanks are not a long-term item. Usually good for a few years sometimes longer. Appreciated the lower price.
