My son and daughter both have lava lamps. One takes a round bulb and the other had this kind of bulb. I tried using a round bulb in the one, but it took significantly longer to heat up compared to this style. I would switch the other to this style bulb too but the lamp's wattage is lower. I'd recommend this style before the normal small round bulb, but just check the wattage of the lamp before switching.

We were gifted a lava lamp that requires this type of bulb rather than the usual appliance or night light-style in order to generate enough heat to circulate the glitter inside. They're a little hard to find in local hardware or home improvement stores and prices for a single bulb are ridiculous.I was excited to find this 5-pack for not much more than a single bulb at the store. They arrived quickly and most importantly in one piece thanks to careful good packaging. Time will tell how long they last but our new lamp is shining brightly.

Great replacement for the bulbs for my lava lamp.

I suggest making sure your lava or salt lamp uses THESE specifically, because only half of mine actually used this size bulb and I had to buy more of another size, but other than that these are great and have lasted a few months so far with none burning out.
