Careers Board Game; 1979 Revised Edition

Game was is great condition for its age and had all of its pieces as promised. Shipping was super fast.

Just as I remembered from my children's era.

Came in fine shape, was just what we were looking for. We had played this game earlier with friends and are glad we were able to get it, so we could play it in our home with family.

Careers might seem like a boring Monopoly rip off at first glance. This is because it follows the roll and move mechanic. And it even has its own “Go” space, it’s called PAYDAY here. There is no arguing the game has some of the same characteristics. But the game is so much more than Monopoly.The goal of the game is to amass sixty points worth of success. You do this by gaining fame, fortune, and happiness. Or stars, money, or hearts. The first cool thing about this is that you get to choose your own formula for winning! You could get 30 fame, and $30,000. You could get 5 fame, $15,000, and 40 happiness. You could go for 60 fame and 0 of the other two! This right away makes the game fun and actually gives it some re-playability.Other than that, you need to roll. Choose different paths. And keep collecting your formula. Of course it’s not that easy because some spaces take away these things. And if you get a low paying job this makes the game tougher in general even if money isn’t prominent in your winning strategy. Life is expensive no matter what…But baring the random chance of rolling dice, this game does have a little bit of strategy. It’s actually a lot of fun. And plays quick. There is an updated version to this game. But it is out of print. And that’s a shame. If you see it at a yard sale or Goodwill definitely pick it up!
