Product Does Not Impact Picture
Prior reviews I read on similar HDMI-base surge/ESD products noted an impact to picture quality. No such thing with this product on 3 different TVs; picture quality is exactly as it was. As to surge/ESD protection, time will tell on that. I purchased these as my home took a hit through the cable line and while I only lost a cable box other neighbors lost TVs as a result. I wanted to add another layer of protection in addition to surge suppression protection on the power line/outlets in my home.

I hope these work
Despite having a whole house surge protector and individual surge protector power cables we lost a cable modem, Apple TV, Roku, 3 cable boxes and a Samsung 6000 series TV. I researched it on the internet and found that HDMI cables are vulnerable to power surges during lightning storms. Hopefully these surge protectors will prevent another loss of equipment. I also bought surge protectors for the coaxial cable coming into the house for the internet and one for each Cable box. Now each item with a cable or HDMI has a surge protector attached. Some have both. Overkill? Mayb, but I don’t want to buy more equipment again if a few low cost surge protectors will keep them safe. 4 stars, waiting for the next storm for a full test.

Transparent
I can only say at this point that the surge protector does not interfere with the picture quality and seems to be transparent between the player and my 4K TV. All of my equipment with HDMI Ports (Projector, TV, A/V Receiver) were recently knocked out by a near direct lightning strike and had to be replaced. Hopefully this will work, but I am hoping it will not have to be tested. I will update my review if I have the misfortune of another strike.

Too soon to rate
You need to check this against the kind of conditions it is supposed to protect your electronics from. No such chance since acquired.

Bought this after losing 60" TV due to nearby lightning.
Previously lost a 60" TV that was taken out by nearby lightning strike. The TV was connected to the AT&T cable box through the HDMI. The AT&T box was fried. I can only assume that the surge traveled from the AT&T box through the HDMI. I replaced the TV and immediately bought this hoping that I might be spared from another loss of a $1200 TV. I will report back if this helps next time.

Doesn't work.
Power surge happened and fried my hdmi ports in my projector even though I have one of these protectors on the only hdmi line connected to it. Also the power cord was plugged into a surge protector. I've lost faith in all of them.

Simple Installation
The service man replacing my TV's system board fried by a nearby lightening strike recommended these. He said it was most important to install between the TV and the cable box (surges most frequently the cable system). Installation is simple, disconnect an end of the HDMI cable insert this device inline. No signal degradation.Having had a lightening strike since installing, but its a small expense compared to a $300+ TV repair.

Better Safe......
I will return later but will say after losing a $400 Yamaha Home-theater Receiver a few years ago and getting another scare recently with Xfinity X1 type Cable box which can pass current thru the HDMI cable I purchased this as a safety net to protect my receiver input from the X1 box!
