How do I use the divider?

Usually dividers are used to transfer measurements without leaving a mark. Also you can use them to mark measurements on paper, wood and...So you measure something with your divider then you can transfer it to other things, multiple times, without measuring again and again or leaving a mark with pencils or pens.

does the divider have a screw adjustment?

The metal compasses do. The 6" plastic protractor with swing arm doesn't.

How do you use the protractor with the swing arm? What's the added benefit over using a regular protractor?

How do i change the the lead on the compass? it does not seem to be removal. i might do it incorrectly. thank you.

There is a small knurled knob just above the lead. You have to loosen that knob; 'righty tighty, lefty loosey'. Or Counter clockwise to loosen. You find it a little bit of a challenge to grab the lead and pull it down, to adjust, or all the way out. It's graphite, which is slippery. Don't need to take the knob off, just loosen it.
