Works kinda like it should, except the metal tab that's supposed to retain the line on the reel is junk. It should've been made of spring steel so it would retain its shape and hold onto the line. Its actually made from a strip of aluminum that bends and twists on every shot. The line just falls off the reel - frustrating.

I bought this real. The first shot at a carp worked great. The second was a disaster. My arrow broke off. The string is very thin. When I got this case in the mail I realized that it has bents and scratches all over it. I did call up the company Directly and they sent me a new arrow and reel free of charge. If you can afford getting a real like the AMS retriever or the Cajun Hybrid, I would

Excellent drum. The line slides right off only when it's supposed to.

I can't say whether the drum reel works well or not. I installed and wound as per the instructions. 1st and 2nd shots worked perfectly, but on the 3rd shot the string snapped as soon as the arrow hit the water and I lost my $40 arrow. It was wound correctly and there where no snags. Just cheap product. Extremely disappointed. Lost money on my arrow and this reel. $70 down the drain.

Even after adjusting the tab so it was looser on the string the tab cut my line off twice. Its alot more of a pain to respool than I thought it would be. I wouldnt buy this agian
