Metal insert is deformed.
The plastic cap itself seems fine, but the metal tube that the filter element slips over is deformed, making it difficult, if not impossible to insert the filter element without damaging it. In my case, I was replacing a filter cap that was damaged due to being over tightened and very difficult to remove. The metal insert on the original was in great shape, so I just swapped the deformed one on the new filter cap out for the old one. If I didn't have that luxury, I would have returned it, and given a one star review.
