Why does the brown version cost almost twice as much as the white? White rice is brown rice that has been processed so white should cost more.

Brown rice is apparently healthier than white rice. And for some reason I've found that anything that's healthy and good for you are not wallet friendly. 

What about the high arsenic levels found in U.S. rice? What is it in this Nishiki Premium Brown Rice?

What is the shelf life of this rice?

If you have a problem with bugs in your rice, put it in the freezer for 24 hours then store in in an air tight container. Usually the problem is meal moths. I had a lot of trouble with them but I started using moth traps and got rid of some grain products that had been on the shelf too long. It took me about a year with the traps but I no longer have moths. I also freeze most of my grains and dry beans for 24 hours before putting them on the shelf.
