This was a surprise! Back in 1970 with the break-up of The Beatles, all focus was naturally on the main songwriters/singers, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, to see what they would do next. However, it was George that hit the ground running with All Things Must Pass. That it turned out to be the very first triple album ever released was even more surprising to many, given how few tracks he had ever written for The Beatles. In reality of course, he had been writing seriously for years and had worked on some songs with Dylan and The Band in '68. By the time he was to record the songs he had been amassing over these years, he was able to round up a stellar band inclduing Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, members of Badfinger, Billy Preston, Bobby Whitlock, Gary Brooker (ex-Procul Harem) and Gary Wright as well as members of Delaney and Bonnies band with whom he had toured in 1969. The sessions were produced by Phil Spector, then renowned as the genius inventor of the "Wall of Sound". On release it spent 7 weeks at No.1 in the USA and 8 weeks in the UK (although due to a postal strike at the time this was not officially recognised until 2006!!) and is one of the most successful of any solo Beatles albums. George himself remastered the album in 2000, living long enough to see it released to great critical acclaim and commercial success in 2001. Featuring bonus tracks, reworked (and colourful) artwork etc the decision was taken at the time to delete the original version and this has not been in print since then. Now, almost 40 years to the day since its' release, Olivia Harrison is releasing the ORIGINAL ALBUM in the ORIGINAL ARTWORK for a limited edition vinyl release. The perfect celebration of a great artist and a truly great, groundbreaking album, this follows the massive chart success of 2009's "Let It Roll", which entered the UK chart at 3 in May of that year as well as the huge success of the seminal 2009 remasters of The Beatles studio albums. Review: A classic album all the way - Growing up in the sixties, there was no better music and the Beatles were of course a driving force to all of it. After their break-up, well I still wanted more, and when "All Things Must Pass" came out, I had to have it. A tour de force lead by George Harrison turned into an instant classic. My kids grew up listening, not by choice , to the album being played often by me and when my oldest daughter, now 30, asked me if she could have the album I kinda hesitated. I really didn't want to give it up. So I did what I always do now, looked it up on desertcart, found it for a good price, bought the new issue for myself and gave my greatful daughter my well used but still very good condition original. She's happy, I'm happy. Excellent reproduction of the original, down to the same color paper record sleeves. Fast, safe shipment from the dealer. Highly recommended! Review: VINYL Re-Mastered Audio Quality is Outstanding! - This is such a High Quality Vinyl LP. Box-Set and it Comes with The Big, Fold-Out Poster. Some of my All-Time favorite songs on these LPs are My Sweet Lord, What is Life, If Not For You and the custom Inner-sleeves contains the lyrics of each song. I have to believe this is also a Very Good investment; I Highly Recommend this Box-Set 3-Vinyl LPs GEORGE HARRISON: RIP. "ALL THINGS MUST PAST"

Consider Purchasing If......
This is an extremely difficult product to review. The music speaks for itself and has stood the test of time. The packaging is as identical to the original as possible, with great attention to detail, except that because the records are 180 gr. the box itself is thicker. The problem is there have been wide-spread reports of problems with the vinyl. Many have reported scuff-marks to varying degrees (some of which do cause audible noise) and it cannot be said this is a first quality, very quiet, pressing. To simplify, the conditions for purchasing this pressing are: 1) your original vinyl copy is worn-out and 2) you can find a reputable seller that will allow you to return a defective disc if there are significant defects (Hint: if two discs are acceptable, but one is not, figure out a way to keep the two discs and replace the defective one.). As for the sound, a gentleman named Randy Wells has compared various vinyl issues of this album in his blog and it is a well thought-out synopsis. My personal view is I like the sound of this pressing. It is not as bright as many and it does seem to have more weight, warmth and resonance in the bass (particularly the drums) that cannot be heard in the original American vinyl from 1970. It is, of course, impossible to say what this album really sounds like unless one is listening to the original master tapes. But I can say, without any fear of being wrong, this is not an album that has been mastered "loud" as is nearly everything these days. It's really a shame. They came this close to getting this release almost completely right. It does suggest a path exists to a release of the Beatles catalog on vinyl that will be pleasing to most audiophile vinyl addicts. They have demonstrated they can get the sound to a place where there can be legitimate comparisons with the original EMI pressings. But they still have to prove they can issue albums in a manner where the vinyl itself is not mangled in the production process, as is the case with this issue. Finally, for those who do purchase, make sure you get some other sleeves for the records. The heavy paper sleeves, that are part of this issue, will only cause further damage to the records over time.

A while back Amazon.co.uk asked me to review this set. After a 55 day wait(since it was shipped to me) due to a UK to U.S.A. postal delivery crisis, the set is finally in my hands. Though a number of consumers reported problems with the pressings, I guess I got lucky, because I'm already into "Side Three" of the 3 L.P. set, and the records are flat and have played fine, though I wish the pressing plant had trimmed the sharp edges of the records. The set has been manufactured in the U.S.A. (ironically) for distribution outside the U.S.A., and I am quite impressed by the extent that the set has been replicated to exact specification to be so identical to a vintage U.S.A. pressing that it would take an expert to tell them apart. The paper stock, catalogue number, the label's album title type face & and song title font, the poster etc. / The only difference I can see is a slightly brighter metallic lettering on the box spine, and (depending on which pressing plant pressed the specific U.S.A. original) perhaps a slightly glossier label paper stock. Thankfully, the bar code is on the cellophane(NOT on the box set itself!) The album is one of the very best Beatles solo albums, and for Harrison, it was a way to finally commit to vinyl a huge backlog of songs that Lennon & McCartney didn't want. The album established the blue print for the sound that Harrison would pursue for the remainder of his career, including(to varying extents) lyrics flavoured by his interest in Hindu mysticism, and the innovative use of bottleneck "slide" guitar in a non-blues context. When I was a teenager(in the 1970's), some girls came to my home and borrowed my original "All Things Must Pass" vinyl set(and other records), then they returned the records(intentionally) scratched beyond playability, so I let the girls keep them. I am happy to be able to have this album in my vinyl collection again, this despite the fact that I already have the album on expanded/remastered CD and 96Khz/24-bit download.

The record is great so far as the music is concerned, although the actual quality of the sound is not as good as on some albums. I must say the seller was excellent, however, and delivered the product in a very timely fashion and the article was exactly as represented.
