Best in the Series
RE: Code Veronica for the Dreamcast is a fine game indeed. I prefer it over the PS2, GameCube, PS3 and 360's version simply for 2 reasons; The DC controller is comfiest and the VMU displays your health. This version cuts down on the fight between Wesker and Veronica and takes out the scene in which Claire meets Wesker entirely. But does that matter? Nope.I don't want to mention the story too much in case you haven't played RE:1 or RE:2 (3 is optional). But what I will tell you is Claire is searching for her brother and gets captured in the meantime. Will she escape alive? Play to find out!The controls are best on this by far. With Resident Evil games I use the D-Pad and the was the DC's D-Pad rocks with you it feels nicer than other consoles to use. You use the right trigger to aim plus A to shoot and L to switch aim, hold B to run, X for the menu and START for Options. Can't say I've used Y. Anyway, the controls have aged nicely. The game gives a lot of frights and looks very nice on the Dreamcast and is my preferred version of the game. If you're not a fan of switching discs there's 2 here as the DC's disks only held 1.2GB of data. But I recommend this 100%. 5/5

Once we got it working my dad was very happy
It was a real challenge setting up the game to work fully, the 4k smart TV didn't manage to fully function with it, no display of image even with all the correct adaptors in place, and we resorted to the slightly older smart TV in the other room, which 1st didn't have sound, at least the picture worked, but then we managed to get the sound working, although it's very flaky, on and off, depending on how you play with the cables. Happy it worked in the end though.

Another must for DC!
I went back to buy this game here on amazon because I bought a few years this game but it have a lot of scratches on the second disc, unable to play it as it should be.But what I know is that when I played, is another must for DC and only fail by the character's movements, outside it, is all good and who knows the Resident Evil saga know that this is a great game!

Resident Evil goes 3D, completely
Although the Resident Evil games are some of the most enjoyable games I've ever played the constricting camera viewpoints always irked slightly, However with the 3D muscle of the Dreamcast all that's a thing of the past. Instead of static backgrounds that were merely a picture RECV has beautiful 3 dimensional backgrounds that can pan from side to side and even zoom in and out, and although the flicking between cameras has been retained from the earlier games the new complete 3Dness of the game makes things sooo much easier and convincing. The game itself is very much like all the other Resident Evil games, a careful blend of shooting demented Zombies and Puzzle solving, however If your the type that doesn't relish a hard puzzle then don't let the puzzle element of this game put you off, there little more than putting the square peg in the square hole type puzzles and could be solved by even a 5 year old. Playing the game at 5 would however be a mistake, the gory Horror content of this game would render you sleepless until at least your 6th birthday. All in all this is a fine game, the kind of quality title that only pops it's head up once in a blue moon, grab it with both hands and you won't be sorry.

More fun than picking scabs
Resident Evil: Code Veronica (Dreamcast (UK PAL) ){Gameplay}Well. I must say this is the biggest piece of crud I have ever seen in my life. First of all, the controls are awful. You can't even turn around without banging into a wall. And believe me, that doesn't help one bit when you're being attacked by zombies who are ripping your kneck apart and blood is spewing everywhere (I've been told the objective is to DODGE the Zombies! What the HEck is the point of that! ) The game doesn't say "turn based" anywhere on the CD case but it seems to act like that every minute when more zombies are thrown at me. I take one shot with my crummy little knife, the zombies do the same move over and over again (the neck rip.) Blood flies. Out of control knife swing. Neck rip. Blood flies. And when, at the very start of the game, like this is going to appeal to beginners, about five zombies surround you, it's impossible to actually get out and survive because when I kill one and turn round to face another, the other one stands up and takes a hit at me. And so an ugly circle is set up.The game is also supposed to be scary! That's pathetic! Perhaps I jumped once, and that was only because the volume on my Dolby Surround decoder (which the game made no use of) was up too high when a sound was played.Gameplay marks out of 10: 2{Graphics}This games' graphics are actually quite good. Except the fact that they're so dark that on most TV sets you can't even SEE the darn things! Yes, the graphics could be a lot more colorful, a lot less washed out. But they're not too bad. It's a shame that someone has taken the time to make these quite respectible graphics and someone else has wasted them on this piece of crud.Graphics marks out of 10: 7{Sound}The sound is nothing special. Actually I think it's been re-used out of the first two (cruddy) games. Pathetic. Can Cancop or whatever the heck their names are not record us some new ones? Even if that isn't true, I'm not sure, the same noise of some moron wailing, oh it's a zombie, my mistake, is exceptionally annoying.Sound marks out of 10: 3----------------------------------------------------- Code Veronica is more fun than: PICKING SCABSPROS: The grass in the graveyard looks quite good. CONS: hard to control, too expensive, no value for money, boring sound effects, boring 3D walkabout bits, too hard, not scary.
