How does the training device work, and is there any needle that breaks the skin?

The orange tip will activate just like the real thing but there is no needle inside.

No this is a training device and can only be used as a training device. You cannot add a needle or epinephrine to this device.

What Is The Shelf Life?

This is a trainer pen. It does not have any form of medication in it. It is simply a durable, three piece, plastic faux EpiPen therefore shelf life would not apply.
