Q: When open, what is the highest the seat can be?

I purchased two kinds and the stool cane had to be returned. The three legged kind that has a built in flashlight, which need two or three AA batteries, is what i use presently and like it. If it's the cane that will adjust from 21 up to 37 or 38 when in walking position, With all three legs at it's highest position, the seat is at least 24" off the ground. my heighbor has the shorter kind but like mine better for a 6'2" man like myself. I have , a few time, gently sat down backwards if having a longer coat on but they are made to strattle facing forward which means wearing a jacket and pants and not wearing skirts unless a wide A.line. Hope that this will help you

Q: Is the massage seat comfortable? Or do you wish you had purchased the flat seat?

I had an opportunity to use this while in line at the airport. I was happy to be able to sit and move along in line. About your question; it isn't the most comfortable seat. I don't think that the "massage" feature adds anything, in fact, it was uncomfortable. One review mentioned using a bicycle seat cover. That may be the answer. Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase.

I bought one of these and it has been fine and I weigh 285 lbs. I believe it says it is rated to 400 lbs. Frankly for something at this price, I personally don't care about gaurantee. I don't have the time to waste. It works or it doesn't and if it doesn't, I throw it out.
