OXO Good Grips Angled Turkey Baster with Cleaning Brush

So, a couple of years ago, we offered to host Thanksgiving to take some of the load off of my mother, who is in her late 70s. One of the things that we didn't have was a turkey baster. My mom offered to bring over anything that my wife and I had not yet acquired to prepare a meal like this (including the old electric carving knife that she's been using for decades, etc.). One of those items was a turkey baster. Now... I don't know how old this thing was but I assume she's been using it for nearly as long as I have been alive, because it definitely has some miles on it, including a broken tip, and a crack the entire length of the tube. I'm honestly surprised that the bulb didn't disintegrate when I tried to squeeze it. Due to the crack and lack of seal, you need to form a particular technique and be pretty quick if you want to actually collect liquid and hold it in the baster long enough to get it above the bird. Sorry, Mom... Time to retire that old girl. She served you well, but it's time for an upgrade.The body of this, like all things OXO, has a sturdy, quality feel to it, as does the bulb. The pipe cleaner and removable tip seemed a bit much, but I reckon that the angled tip will be really useful in getting as much delicious juice from the bottom of the roasting pan as we can, to baste over that beautiful turkey and brown and crisp up that skin very nicely.P.S. It was VERY well received - a big, hearty laugh from Mom, knowing that likely she will be bringing that same baster over in future years to 'help' us prepare Thanksgiving dinner for the whole family the same way that she did all these years. Well, never quite as good, but we're trying. 😉

Extraction is great and holds onto the liquids better until you are ready to expel it. This is possible because of the curved up end that does not leak out immediately like the straight tips until it is transferred. Great for extracting hamburger grease from a fry pan, which was very messy with the straight tip extractors which would leak out before you transferred the grease to a container. Not just for basting but for grease removal too.

it's great easy to clean and the stand that is has on it is perfect it may drip a little but it great dont have to waste paper towels or use a plate just wipe the counter down simple

The baster works well. But it arrived in its clear display packaging only. The plastic was torn in two places along with some of the paper inside. Nothing damaged but wonder where it had been.

I was hesitant to purchase this because of the price but took the plunge and I am happy I did. I’ve used it at over 400 degrees it is heat resistant and the length is just right to keep hand away from the heat but not ungainly to manage. The suction is perfect, no more struggles to get liquids into the tube, and cleanup is so easy because it separates at the tip as well as the top. It comes with a brush too. Love it.

Yes, this is an item that most of us use maybe twice a year so we stick with the decades old one your mother bought at the grocery store in 1978. There's a reason she gave it to you when you moved out - she hates it.The old ones dribble out most of the liquid, they need to be held at odd angles while you tip up the roaster - which is fun for everyone. If you've managed not to burn yourself yet you will when you tilt it up and all the hot juices run into the bulb.But this was built with the user in mind.It has an angled tip so that you don't need to risk life and limb tilting a 350 degree roaster with one hand.There is actual suction on this. You don't need to invert it to keep it from spraying everywhere.Should you need to invert it the heat from the liquid will not burn you through the bulb.We all know the turkey baster is a once a year uni-tasker. Still, treat yourself to a nice one.

There is no one better at making innovative and very useful products. Our dime-store baster just couldn't pick up much juice from the pan, and the plastic was getting discolored with the bulb beginning to crack. This is quality, and it will outlast me. OXO just puts quality into everything it does.

Great suction compared to a different one from a long time ago and the tip is great to keep more of the liquid inside when transferring it. Unfortunately I left it propped in the pan on the tip and so it melted a bit, but it still works. Just use caution and as intended then you'll be fine. Also, separate each piece when putting in the top of the dishwasher and it cleans up great! Just make sure the small tip doesn't fall to the bottom and get lost.

El producto es bueno , solo que tardo 30 días en llégame. Ya había pasado thanksgiving y Navidad y no pude usarlo.Será para el próximo año.

Après plusieurs années, le plastique est craquelé, mais sans autre conséquence. Fonctionne très bien, et très utile, sans se brûler.
