Forgive me for starting with a cliche, but...
…I honestly didn't think Marvel could top the magnificent season four of Agents Of SHIELD, and yet here we are with the latest batch of episodes and they actually did it! Season five is a triumph of dramatic story telling and, as much as I love the cinematic entries in the MCU, I think I'm starting to prefer the television universe they're building.Split into two distinct halves (again heralded by subtly different title cards), the first ten episodes see our heroes thrown into the future where a catastrophe has overtaken Earth. The remainder of the season returns to the present as the SHIELD team, still on the run for crimes they're believed to have committed last season, must avoid the circumstances that lead to Earth's dark future. But are they doomed to repeat the same mistakes and be trapped in a causality loop forever? In some regards, this year is similar to season five of another of my favourite science fiction shows, Fringe; The main cast are thrust into the future to discover Earth's terrible fate, then must work out a plan to fix their present. There's even a bald 'observer' helping the SHIELD operatives out. I'm not suggesting any plagiarism by the way, just pointing out a coincidence tying the two shows together: Both storylines still feel very unique to their respective series. But I won't say any more for fear of revealing spoilers. I avoided pretty much everything about this season and, after viewing for the first time via this Blu Ray set, I can say I'm so glad I did. The opening chapter set in the future is very dark, and the 'end of the world' is portrayed in a very grim and unsettling way. There are some very moving moments too, such as when Melinda May reunites with the adult version of a child she knew. Again, I'm afraid of saying too much but there is so much to unpack here. The whole season offers some stunning "What The..?" moments that I just didn't see coming, particulary regarding Fitz and the new character Deke (engagingly played in full Han Solo/Peter Quill mode by Jeff Ward). In conclusion, all I can say is that I'm damn glad AOS was given a sixth season. If the final episode of season five, appropriately titled "The End", had been the conclusion for the whole series I would have been heartbroken (and a little bit angry)!! Highly, HIGHLY recommended!!

Good...
5th season and another 22 episodes in the interesting series. At the time of writing there are over 400 reviews with 84% rating it 5 stars. Similar to my reviews of all of the earlier seasons, whilst i agree that the series is good, i don't think it is worth a 'must watch' / 'multiple watch' 5 stars. Good but not that good. I was also disappointed with some parts of the story line, which were cringe worthy. I hope i don't give away too much, but whilst i am not a staunch feminist, I was disappointed to watch Daisy hand over leadership of the team to Mack on the basis that she let her emotions get to her - Mack being the character who wanted to stay in a virtual reality world (of course endangering the lives of the rest of the team who had to try to save him) to be close to his virtual reality daughter who died as a baby in reality. it would be nicer if the story line didn't follow such anachronistic stereotypes...

Fantastic Story & Ends on a High
AoS S5 takes the crew into the future and they must find a way back home to stop the events of that future happening. This future ran by Kree, is a future with no world as it has been destroyed by the 'Destroyer of Worlds' assuming to be Daisy Johnson. The second half of the season arcs around Coulson's deal with the Ghost Rider and the effect that is going to have, as well as trying to stop Hydra's powers once more and altering the course of the world's fate. We meet new characters and see the return of some old faces too in what proves to be a solid wrap up for the original 5 seasons.

Fresh as a Daisy
Into a fifth series, and they're still coming up with new ideas and plot twists - I won't go into what those are as I wouldn't want to spoil it for you if you haven't seen it yet. I didn't even know there WAS a fifth series until Amazon (bless 'em) dropped it into my recommendations the other day - this is because in the UK it's broadcast on a standard definition channel which is more or less unwatchable on a 4k tv, so I don't even check the listings for those channels.Season 4 was only released (on blu-ray) here 3 months ago, so I totally wasn't expecting this, but I'm absolutely made up 'cos I reckon with the exception of Eureka, Dr Who, The Clangers and the World Cup this is one of the best things ever on British tv 😊

Agents of Shield 5th Season - Action Packed
Got used to buying my copy of each season from Amazon UK, rather than Amazon US because ABC TV refused to release DVDs or Blu-Rays beyond season 2 in the US. So glad I was able to get them thru Amazon UK. ABC TV finally released them in the US, but the price is considerably higher than the UK, even including monetary exchange charge. And Blu-Ray plays fine in the US. DVD is not compatible. This season was excellent, starting in space and ending back home trying to save earth. It all takes place just before Infinity War.

Superb season five.
This was for me a superb season. Visually good and 'plausible' for a fictional superhero series. Without giving away too much detail the episodes when our Agents of Shield were shanghied into the future were particularly gripping and effective. The Agents of Shield are likeable characters and you care what happens to them. Long may they continue to protect us in whatever format you watch this series on.
