Solid starter for robotics programming
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Note - attached video shows what can be done with the robot, though it doesn't come like this straight out of the box. I am a mechanical engineer who bought this as a personal project. I have connected a RC controller to the robot to steer it, and have re-coded everything to make the motion of the robot more agile. However, I will review this from the point of view from a more typical hobbyist mindset.Pros:- Hardware is robust and solid- Wiring diagram is good- Software is ready to go if you have an AndroidCons:- Commenting in code could be done better to make it beginner friendly to modify- Motor encoder only has one out of the two channels hooked to Arduino. This way, it is impossible to tell the direction of the motor rotation by looking just at the encoder signal. The existing code "guesses" the direction it is spinning based on the direction commanded to the motor driver. I just soldered the missing channel to an Arduino pin and re-wrote code. Not sure why this was not done to begin with, besides slight increase in cost of PCB.- Bluetooth module cannot be connected to iPhone due to hardware limitations.

Incomplete kit - it seems to be solid
I received this robot in a timely manner. However (my mistake I didn't read it in the Amazon product description...), I didn't ordered the 18650 special batteries and their charger.Unfortunately, this type of battery (code 18650, 3.7 volt) is not easily available in my country (Ecuador). I am managing to get them and their charger. I think this is a design error, I would recommend that the kit should include their own batteries and charger, or even better: it should require some more standard batteries. Until I get the batteries I would not test this robot. The hardware seems to be well built, it looks solid and sturdy.Electronic parts are generic (the kit came with an Arduino clone). Nothing wrong with that, I hope they work fine, as reviewed by other customers. The motors look solid and I noticed that both have encoders. I learned from another review that only one of the encoder feedback signals is connected to the Arduino. I will check this once I can test the unit.I am waiting to get the batteries, so I would complete my review.Until then, I would give this kit three stars because the total lack of documentation and the problem with the non-standard batteries.

Self-balancing Osoyoo mobile robot
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. The mobile robot arrived ensambled an without battery. In the unboxing, the robot looks very well without damage. In the first jogging, the robot works with some shaky due to the backlash of the geared motor. I think that it is a good deal since quality-cost overview. In the next days I will explore the hardware and the firmware.

Great kit! Batteries not included.
I got this for a prize at a robotics competition. I was very impressed by how well it worked. It came with a sample Bluetooth control program loaded, but it did not come with its own batteries. With that said it took me less than 10 minutes to have it fully working. When I tried to find the app to control it, I found that the only way to install it is to go to the OSOYOO web page and download the code manually to run the app. Once I found this it was a quick fix and I had the whole thing driving around in less than 30 minutes.

NOT a Worthless kit.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Re reviewed.I bought this kit couple of weeks ago and I tried first and it seemed that it was now working as described in the description. However, today I get to operate it and figured out the wiring was having problems instead of the kit. I fixed the wiring and it comes with the readymade program which works just fine. I have attached a sample video which might give someone who is looking for this similar project.

This Self Balancing Robot is great.
Nicely made. Website has tons of educational material about how it works. You can learn about many technologies and components with this robot if you wish including hall effect encoders, bluetooth, Arduino, code that makes it work , MPU 6050 accelerometer & gyro and motor drivers.
