Main Street Windows: A Complete Guide to Disney's Whimsical Tributes

I'm not sure what everyone else is fawning over. Sure, this is a list of all of the Main Street Windows from the Disney parks, but beyond that, it's not good at all.It's missing most of the photos of Disneyland Paris and Tokyo. The photos that are included of the American parks are horrible and look like they were taken with an old Polaroid instant camera. The author couldn't even take the time to color correct or tune the photos so that they are at least visible.To say this is a complete guide is false advertising. I'm returning this for my money back since it really just sucks.

The book is nothing short of fantastic. It not only just includes Disneyland, but Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland. It is set up so that there a picture of one or two windows on the right page with a more in depth description of what the window says and who or what it is about. Words can not describe how beautiful this book truly is. I strongly recommend the hard back if you can get it cause it deserves to be sat out on tables or even brought to the park so you can read it as you look up at the windows. The print quality is probably the best of any of the multiple books about Disney I own and personally find the matte pictures make it easier to read.If you even have a passing interest in the windows of the Disney parks, this should be your first stop.

Author Jeff Heimbuch takes the reader on a a short history lesson that is fascinating and entertaining. The windows in the Disney Parks are described as opening credits to the parks and if you have ever glanced up to these amazing little pieces of art and ever wondered what they mean or wanting to know more about the Disney history this a great read for you. The book guides you through all of the windows on the Main Streets of Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland. The book is exactly what I expected and more. The attention that Disney gave to these windows carries to Heimbuch's writing. I very much enjoyed this book!

Yes this book has a great history of the windows down the main streets in the different parks, and a ton of information in it. Unfortunately, the main reason I purchased this book was to view pictures of the windows, and most pictures seem to have been shot during the wrong time of day. There are bad reflections, sunlight glares, and strange angles in quite a few of the photographs, some making the window completely unreadable. Yes it is good to have information on each window but there is an art that goes into the hand painted and hand gilded windows that I wish was more appreciated in this book. The pictures seem rushly taken instead of being shot at the time of day that would make the window beautiful without anything blocking it.

The Disney Windows are tributes to former employees who help make the parks what they are. But some need an explanation. And the parks with such windows are covered in this book.

This book is for students of Walt Disney, Disneyland and Disney park history. And as students of same, my wife and I enjoy this book very much. No disappointment, here. It is a factual tribute to the Imagineers and players that make Disneyland the endearing, venerable institution it is today, and takes Disney Park window-watching to a whole new level. A must-have for Disney historians of all ages.

This book is excellent for fans of Disneyland. It is a great read about who all the people are named in the windows above Main Street, USA. And now you will know the clever businesses named with the person on the window and how it relates to the building of Disneyland or their relationship with Walt Disney.

My husband was so excited to get this book today! He has always been infatuated with the windows since we know they all have meanings. This book has ALL the parks in it too! I mean Disneyland, WDW, Disney Paris & Disney Tokyo. This book is perfect for him! Thanks!

Amazing details on a not-so-secret element of the park.

This book is wonderful for the disney Geek. If you are interested in the Imagineers (who designed and built the parks) you will love it.

Das Buch ist nur für absolute Disneyland Fans. Aber wer wie ich gern durch die MAIN STREET U.S.A. schlendert und den Blick auf die Fenster im ersten Stock wirft, der wird mit diesem Buch über alle dort genannten Personen aufgeklärt. Die Disney Imagineers haben ihren Spaß die Fenster hübsch, dekorativ und zeitgemäß zu beschriften, aber (fast) jedes Fenster verbirgt auch eine Geschichte über eine reale Persönlichkeit. Der Autor hat aufwändig nachgeforscht und alles in diesem Buch zusammengetragen. Chapeau! Jedes Fenster ist auf einer halben oder ganzen Buchseite abgebildet, auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite ist noch einmal der Fenstertext in Druckschrift und die Erklärung über Person, Persönlichkeit und Begebenheit abgedruckt. Drei Kleinigkeiten würde ich an diesem Buch bemängeln, aber das schmälert nicht die Bewertung der 5 Sterne.1. Disneyland und Walt Disney World in den USA sind komplett gelistet, Paris, Tokio und Hong Kong weisen einige Lücken auf.2. Die Papierqualität ist ungeignet. Es ist zwar festes Papier, aber die Fotos kommen nicht gut zur Geltung.3. Die Fotos sind nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht professionell.Dem gegenüber steht eine akribische Recherchearbeit, die es wahrscheinlich so nicht wieder geben wird. Jeff Heimbuch zählt mit Sicherheit zu den Disney-Enthusiasten, der Spaß daran hat sein (eigentlich nutzloses) Wissen mit uns zu teilen und uns damit den Disney Kosmos näher bringt. Ich bin mir sicher, dass es noch mehr "Verrückte" wie mich geben wird, die diese Arbeit lieben und bewundern. Ich danke Jeff Heimbuch für dieses Buch!
