Lovely product, that works great with Apple Home
I bought this to automate our lounge roller blind, which I’ve been looking to do for a while, but couldn’t decide which product to go for. All my smart home stuff needs to work with HomeKit and this ticked all the boxes on paper. In reality, it exceeded my expectations. Installation was a breeze, taking only about 15 minutes. It integrates seamlessly with HomeKit and it actually makes the blind look much more impressive and expensive, as it’s now so smooth in its operation. Our roller blind is the day and night variety, so it’s important that the positioning is accurate in order that the two layers align. No issues at all with getting them aligned every time, by simply setting what you want the highest and lowest positions to be, and then finding the exact percentage for the positions you want. Another nice feature, is the ability to choose the speed at which the motor moves. The handles of our windows stick out enough that they brush the bottom bar of the blind when it moves past them. If you lower the blind too quickly, it can catch itself on them and land on top of the handles rather than passing by them. I used the medium speed setting and this ensures it passes them every time. This has been my first Aqara product (along with the E1 Hub, which I bought along with it), and based on my experience with it, it certainly won’t be my last. Great value for money.

Super easy to install, smooth quiet blinds - just make sure the blind itself is not worn out
The perfect blind motor - come with adapters for different cords however the standard one fitted my blinds perfectly. These work with Google Home ("Hey Google, open the blinds"), and you can adjust the speed. These are exceptionally quiet motors, most negative reviews seem to come from the blind mechanism being noise - it is probably worn, to reduce unwanted noise you can grease the pin end of the blind (not the pullcord side! - do not grease that) , and sometimes it is worth buying another pull cord assembly if years of yanking on the old "manual" blinds has loosened the mechanism (as had happened to my large blind). This is more than capable of raising my 200cm x 120cm blackout blind however it does use slightly more battery, battery life in general seems very good so far and charging couldn't be easier.

Does what it says on the tin
This product does exactly what is says on the tin. It opens and closes the blinds. The operation is a little bit noisy, but that’s to be expected and it’s not exactly fast, taking about 35 seconds to fully open my roman blind, although it is quite heavy. Battery life is good, lasting a good few weeks to a month. Setup is super easy, i wouldn’t bother with the 3M Sticky tape as it just ripped all of the paint off my wall and i felt it wasn’t as secure as the screws. It’s a slight shame that you have to buy a hub to go with it also as that’s another add on to the price, but hey ho. Setup in the app was very easy and quick, also integration with alexa was very easy and quick. There is a slight delay between asking alexa and the motor moving, but nothing too major. One thing to note is that it has to be tight on the chain of the blind, otherwise it will catch on the plastic cap and pull it off. This is a good product, slightly pricey for what it does but worth the investment for a luxury room. My only option as my roman blind fabric didn’t come with an automatic version.

Automate existing blinds
Really good roller blind drivers. Have converted 3 normal blinds. Great with Home Assistant zigbee2mqtt. No need for an aqara hub. Easy to automate. Good battery life. Installation a little tricky with getting the length of cord correct. Ideally, get endless cord pulls

Works well but consider its size
I wasn't able to get this device to work properly with deCONZ integrated with Home Assistant. Although it would connect just fine, it was always identified as a Dimmable Light, which basically means that I wasn't able to control it within Home Assistant - connecting to and using the deCONZ GUI (via VNC to the Raspberry Pi) to control the blinds was possible so that was fine for a couple of weeks but no amount of fiddling or discussion on the deCONZ forums/Github has resolved the issue when using the latest "stable" (2.12.06) version of deCONZ. Mileage may vary with beta (2.13.02+). So, after fiddling with that for frankly far too long, and already having the bits to build a new Zigbee hub, I decided to build a Zigbee2MQTT hub instead of deCONZ (which I'm still using) and the device was added to that and shows up in Home Assistant perfectly fine and fully controllable. So, for those of you using roll-your-own Zigbee hubs, prefer Zigbee2MQTT over deCONZ for this device, but it might work with a beta version of deCONZ - I just haven't tried. As for the device, it's pretty chonky but clearly has good torque - I'm only using mine to tilt some vertical blinds so it doesn't have much of any hard work to do. Given its shape and length, you will need either a good 20cm between the bottom of your roller chain and window sill for the motor to fit in, or your window's recess will need to be at least that deep to allow you to mount the motor horizontally. For me, I'm happy with the device and, although expensive, it does the job I want it to and does it well and it integrates with Home Assistant.

Aqara great all round
I could not live without Aqara now. I have three of these for opening the blinds/shades. My only tip is make sure the item is compatible with the shades/blinds you have. Aqara works seamlessly within with my Apple ecosystem. I have only ever had one problem that was with another product video doorbell firmware failing to update, that was replaced immediately. I love Aqara products. Easy to use, easy to install, easy to connect. Easy, peasy all round.

Really good! Until it wasn’t 😢
Really good! Until it wasn’t. Bought two of these, one failed within 2 months and the other is still going (less than a month old at the time of writing). When it was working, and for the one that is still alive - Integrates with our homeassistant setup fine, not too loud, holds connection well. A bit of a faff to set up but nothing too difficult once you get the hang of it. The one that failed simply ‘died’ - unresponsive buttons and no longer talking to homeassistant, but would take charge. Returned to amazon all good. But disappointed it didn’t last long, a real shame for saying how nice a quality item it is and not cheap either! Here’s hoping the other one doesn’t give up soon too! Update March 2026 - Aqara were really helpful and did a partial refund on a replacement. Other blind motor still going well, new (replacement) installed this week and working faultlessly. Fingers crossed for no more failures, I’d like to get more for the rest of the house!

Works great in Smartthings (at least till now)
This is a neat and easy way of automating any roller blind shade. You don't need to pay a fortune to buy the motorized roller blinds that are too bulky and limited in size. I have it on two blinds. The motor is strong enough to even operate the long and wide (180x210cm) blind.

Easy to install
I was skeptical at the beginning, but it was simple to install and the 3m adhesive works like a charm no need for drilling in concrete (in my case) The tricky part was to manually set up the close and open position but it turned out to be simple, just follow the instructions in the manual guide. As an advice, if you have Samsung smartThings setup you can download a community driver to control and automate the curtain open and close without the need to buy an Aqara Hub.

Lunga vita… Amazon come sempre precisa e puntuale.
