Cheech & Chong Still Smokin' [DVD]

I think they tried to cram a little too much into the time limit. In the on stage show they didn't do enough with Blind Melon Chitlins. If you have heard the album back in the '70s he sang the song "Going Downtown, Gonna See My Girl" and it wasn't the same on this movie. he should have had more time in the act. The movie part of it where they were just doing Cheech and Chong stuff was pretty good actually, it was typically their style. One thing I would have loved to see them do was the "Dave's Not Here." That would have been great. These two have a unique style and for them to be funny rather than totally stupid you have to understand their style of comedy and how they really blow the ideas out of proportion (the drugs and sex) making their point. They are hilarious and very good comedians in their own right and most of the newer actors and comedians now and recent who try the same thing always seem a little too stupid, not funny. Cheech and Chong are experts at it in my opinion and will never be replaced. Like the scene in "Up In Smoke" at the border when they were smuggling marijuana back into the states on their van and it started burning, getting the border guard high. It was great. Comedy without any sense to it in an ingenious way. But this movie really could have been better I think. Not as good as the others I have seen.

If you're hoping this will be anywhere near as good as Up in Smoke, or Next Movie, prepare to be disappointed. It's not anywhere near as good as those, nor Things are Tough all Over, or Nice Dreams. Do see all 4 of those films and you will laugh your head off.That said, it is decidedly different, in that it doesn't really have much of a plot, but is more like a collection of skits. Many of which must have been almost completely improvised. Some of them are pretty darn funny, but many are not particularly so, and just boring.Cheech and Chong really go out of their way to display a wide variety of acting skills, doing lots of different voices and impressions. They do a good job of this, and improv is harder than it looks. It must have been improv, because no script could be that bad!There's a bit of Amsterdam scenery, but it is mostly filmed indoors.

This is one of the best stoner comedies and Cheech & Chong film ever made, made after 'up in smoke'. My sides were sore laughing at this...so much in it you can't look away or you'll miss more silliness from this fantastic duo. A must-see for any C&C fans or ppl who like stoner films! Love it!!
