Robbie Williams - Live At The Albert [DVD] [2001]

This was a one-time performance and although no video can replace a live concert, this bluray does a very good job at giving you the impression of having been there yourself. You have to be a fan of course of his "Swing when you're winning" CD, and when you are this live registration isn't only giving you the additional video, but also some songs that are not found on the CD (also not on the Japanese version). Buy it when you can. It is a rare item and as such a bit pricy, but I find it easier to enjoy looking and listening at this show than to enjoy a few additional pounds on my bank account.

Robbie Williams brings swing music to the Royal Albert Hall as he covers some of the great songs of the greatest swing artists of all time, He also adds his own song with the wonderful 'I Will Talk and Hollywood Will Listen' This show in 2001 was to promote his Swing album 'Swing When Your Winning' on which appear some of the songs he sings live at the Albert Hall, Robbie Williams as always been a great live entertainer and this shows as he entertains the crowd at the Albert Hall, His love of this type of music is clear to see and he proves with this show that he is more than a 'pop' singer, He is always willing to let the audience participate in his shows and that can be seen hear as he ends the show with 'My Way' "If you know the words sing up, if you don't shut up it'll sound crap" he cheekily says to the audience as he starts to sing it. With this show I feel Robbie Williams is paying his own personal tribute to the Swing Legends he grew up listening to.

This is the first Robbie DVD I have purchased, I also have Nobody Someday, The Robbie Williams Show,and Where Ego's Dare. Live At the Albert Hall is, in my opinion the best, if you are wanting to watch a top-class act. For those of you who have only seen Robs live performances, this is something different. This is Rob the smoothie. He carries the whole thing off superbly, and the part where he pays tribute to Frank Sinatra brings tears to your eyes.This is Robbie at his best in lots of ways-the cheekiness, the style,and tremendous quality vocals. The quality of sound in the Albert hall is absolutely top-notch as you'd expect.Watching this, after having the Swing when you're winning cd, now brings the cd to life,being able to imagine this show as you listen to the cd in the future-so superb you will not forget it.

For those who considered sound and picture quality of significant importance, this blu ray is a reference.The orchestra includes several instruments and they sound with a separation and clarity outstanding.The ambience of the concert in the Albert Hall was very well recorded in the blu ray.My top 5 includes the following blu ray:1.Eagles - Live in Melbourne;2.Yanni Live - The concert event;3.Robbie Williams - Live At The Albert;4.Joe Bonamassa - An Acoustic evening in Vienna Opera House;5.Simply Red - Live at Montreux.In High-End systems the sound and picture are even great.

Good honest entertainment.Fantastic old songs brought up to date. If you like Robbie you will love this. The interjection of Jonny Wilks and Jane Horrocks makes it a very memorable experience. One of my favourites is "have you met miss jones" but to be honest I struggled to find a favourite as they are all so enjoyable. A true artist at his best, up front in my collection of Robbie Williams DVD's? perhaps level with the Roundhay concert.If you want to sit back and enjoy some good entertainment, Get "Live At The Albert"

I love Robbie's CD of Swing When You're Winning - therefore I know I will be impressed when I watch this DVD of Robbie performing the tracks live. I have no hesitation in giving him 5 stars as I know his performance on this will be outstanding. I bought this on recommendation from a friend and if she says it is brilliant - then I believe her.

Robbie Williams nel suo momento di massimo splendore.Esibizione impeccabile durante tutto il concerto,talmente perfetta che se non fosse per la commozione nei suoi occhi durante l’ultima canzone(My way)sembrerebbe provenire da un altro pianeta.La conclusione è molto emozionante,quasi da lacrimuccia.

If you love old standards, you'll love this version presented with talent and laughter. Have bought many copies for friends and family at their requests.
