DiskStation DS218+ SAN/NAS Storage System

Ce genre de NAS est efficace et fait parfaitement le travail. Je l'ai équipé de deux IronWolf 4To en Raid 1, c'est très facile de monter les disques en Raid.L'interface d'administration est très ergonomique. Bref l'expertise Synology depuis des années.Pour les microcoupure électriques, il peut être judicieux de le brancher devant un onduleur pour ne pas abimer les disques, cependant si vous n'en avez pas, il existe une fonctionnalité sur le NAS de redémarrage automatique en cas de coupure de courant.Je recommande ce produit.

This is a great wee NAS for backing up. I also have a Synology DS718+ but I was looking into a dual disk USB caddy with RAID ability for backing up the DS718+ and after looking at prices and reviews for USB/HDD solutions I paid the extra few pounds for the DS218. The DS218 will not have the ability to use Virtual Machine and Docker and a few other things available on the DS718+ but for a backup solution it was perfect for my needs and it also has the ability to use SHR (Synololgy Hybrid Redundancy) or RAID so I have a redundancy if a disk fails on my backup. I’m currently using the Hyper Backup Vault on the DS218 and just set up Hyper Backup on the DS718+ and select whatever I want to backup straight over to the DS218.I’m getting 110 MB/s read/write speed over a 1Gigabyte network which is perfect. There is also a Beta version of Plex now available for the DS218 but have not tested this as I use Plex on my DS718+ but I don’t think there would be a problem when using it as the DS218 seems pretty quick at read/write. It uses the usual DSM software which is awesome and very intuitive and still has useful apps to choose from.Overall it’s a great wee NAS but as an all-in-one NAS it lacks somewhat in the apps department with no VM or Docker but as a file backup system as opposed to an external USB HDD it is the best option to go for. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a file backup solution as it’s pretty fast and dependable and has the ability to give you redundancy and would probably also be suited for Plex as long as you weren’t using it and streaming loads of media at the same time as I think the CPU would struggle somewhat. At the end of the day it's Synology, so you know you're getting quality!

Installed with 2 4TB drives and RAM upgrade. Basically functional but lots of annoying glitches with the software. Works great as media server but after two months I still have not been able to back up using Mac’s Time Machine, which was the primary purpose. Synology tech says it’s Apple’s issue. I’m not so sure... but may be forced to buy 3rd party software for backup, which is disappointing.

Consegna anticipata rispetto alla previsione. L’imballaggio peró poteva essere migliore. Praticamente la sua scatola originale quindi protezione minima. Il prodotto però è arrivato integro e funzionante. Non è tra i NAS più economici ma la qualità di Synology si paga. Potevano migliorare l’alloggiamento e il fissaggio dei dischi rigidi con in sistema in alluminio magari e non tutta plastica. Inoltre nessuna vite presente nella confezione per cui se si hanno dei dischi da 2,5” bisogna procurarsi le viti di fissaggio. Detto ciò il NAS è ottimo. Silenzioso, bella interfaccia utente anche se non delle più semplici per i neofiti. Insetiti i miei due dischi da 3,5 e collegato alla rete e accesso subito rilevato. Il sistema scarica il S.O. e poi occorre configurare i vari user, password, registrazioni e scaricare i vari software che i desiderano a parte quelli di default. Unica pecca che il sistema di default formatta i dischi e li configura di default secondo il Sinology Hibrid Raid per cui se si vuole un altro sistema raid (i supportati sono 0, 1, 5, JBOD) bisogna configurarlo dopo.In complesso un buon prodotto per un uso domestico e piccole aziende per backup, archivio e server multimediale.

Ich habe seit 2012 eine DS212 in Betrieb, vor allem für Musik, teilweise auch für Fotos und Filme. Mehrere Nutzer im Haushalt greifen darauf zu. Diese DS212 hat zwar immer treue Dienste geleistet, war aber im Ursprungszustand ziemlich laut, und der RAM von 256 MB sowie der überschaubar schnellen Prozessor haben sich recht bald als kleiner Engpass erwiesen. Der Prozessor oft ausgelastet, der Arbeitsspeicher häufig voll.Nach einigem Überlegen die Entscheidung: es muss Ersatz her. Ich wollte mehr Leistung und eine möglichst einfache Migration, sprich: möglichst wenig Aufwand für den Wechsel, bei möglichst hoher Datensicherheit. Möglichst hohe Datensicherheit hieß dabei für mich: ein neues Laden von einem Backup finde ich tendenziell riskant. Die Backup-Platte kann abrauchen, und dann sind die Daten weg. Natürlich mache ich immer Backups von meinem Raid-1, aber ich wollte einfach am liebsten die Festplatten komplett mitnehmen in die neue NAS, so wie sie sind.Ursprünglich hatte ich überlegt, zu Q-NAP zu wechseln und eines der "Silent NAS"-Modelle zu kaufen. Der Migrationsaufwand hat mich dann aber abgeschreckt (s.o.), und die Hoffnung war, mit einem Lüfter von Noctua und etwas Dämmung um die NAS herum ähnliche Ergebnisse mit einer DS218 von Synology erzielen zu können.Die Migration von der DS212 zur DS218 ging dann beeindruckend einfach von der Hand. Ich bin kein Computer-Experte sondern ein normal interessierter Privatnutzer, und habe insgesamt vielleicht eine halbe Stunde gebraucht - dann lief die DS218 komplett mit allen meinen Daten von der DS212 sowie mit allen Apps. Also das hat Synology wirklich gut gelöst.Der Einbau des neuen Lüfters von Noctua (NF-A9 FLX) ging auch schnell und problemlos (30 min), wobei die DS218 mit dem Originallüfter schon leiser war als damals die DS212 mit Originallüfter. Aber der Noctua hat nochmal deutlich was gebracht, der Lüfter ist so gut wie unhörbar wenn er läuft.Die Leistung der DS218 ist erheblich höher als die der DS212. Ich kann es auch deshalb gut vergleichen, weil die beiden 2 TB WD Red ja mit umgezogen sind in die neue DS218. Vorher habe ich vom Notebook über schnelles WLAN max. 25 MByte/s Download geschafft, jetzt mit der DS218 bei ansonsten gleichen Bedingungen (ebenfalls Raid-1, gleiche Platten) bis 55 MByte/s.Außerdem fährt die DS218 deutlich schneller hoch und runter, und sie stört sich nicht an mehreren Jobs gleichzeitig. Die DS212 kam da schnell aus der Puste, dann ging die Performance in den Keller.Zur Software: ich kenne die der Konkurrenz (QNAP etc.) zwar nicht, aber bin mit Synology DSM nach wie vor sehr zufrieden. Stabil, sieht gut aus, alle erdenklichen Dienste umsonst verfügbar. Ich verwende für meine Zwecke vor allem den "Minim Server" (für Klassik, Jazz, große Pop-Sammlungen etc. wirklich sehr zu empfehlen), der ist mittlerweile auch als externes Standard-Paket bei Synology verfügbar, das macht es deutlich einfacher als vorher, wo man immer noch das Java recht kompliziert extra installieren musste.Habe die DS218 jetzt noch außen mit einem Sandwich aus Büchern und Akustikschaumstoff gedämmt (Luft kann aber noch rein und raus), und sie steht auf einer weichen Antivibrationsmatte, plus Füße von b-fly. Jetzt ist sie fast nicht mehr zu hören - und ich bin da sehr empfindlich.Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden, und es war eine gute Entscheidung das Upgrade durchzuführen, obwohl die alte DS212 ja noch brav gelaufen ist. Die Mehrleistung ist einfach sehr deutlich spürbar, und bringt mir im Alltag mit der NAS deutlichen Mehrwert. Preis ist wohl angemessen, aber dafür kenne ich die Konkurrenz zu wenig.
