Twenty to Make: Chocolate Animals

This book had fun and very easy to follow instruction to make a variety of animals. I made a zoo cake for my grandson that looked great. I highly recommend this book.

Cute designs. Candy clay is heat sensitive so I am going to use modeling dough. Easy instructions. Quick accents for dressing up your fondant or buttercream cakes.

I was disappointed in the book itself as it basically took all of the same shapes to make all of the animals. It is a very small book. Not what I expected.

I purchased this little book along with a few other sugarcraft ones from the same series. It provides a good recipe to make the modelling chocolate, some great hints on using it and some useful instruction on how to create some animals out of chocolate. The first ones I tried out where two cats and a tiny mouse :) (picture has been uploaded) You dont have to stick exactly with the positioning of the animals but the thing I found most useful was how the book weighs out the proportions of the head/body etc. So have some scales near by because its very useful. It means you can double the weight for a larger animal or half the weight for a smaller one. Nothing is too complicated in this book so is great if you are just starting out. Alot of modelling items can be done by following sugarcraft books/ideas too.

I bought this book to get some ideas for modelling with marzipan. It didn't disappoint. It would be good to use with children - if they don't like marzipan (mixture of NUTS & sometimes EGG WHITES), then fondant can be used just as well. Some ideas are relatively simple to do.

These books are great with full page coloured photo's of the finished result and step by step instructions, i buy them for my mother and she loves them, they give a home made cake a professional (but still homemade) finish :)

I have tried most of these cute animals and have to say they are very easy. Clear step by step pictures and great tips. All in a little book that's easy to store. Well worth buying this little treasure.
