Best washer and dryer Ever!!
I had been looking at washers and dryers for over a year, my kenmore washer and dryer were almost 24 years old, and starting to show there age, after reading reviews and talking to people who own different brands, it became frustrating, complaints like the shortest wash cycle was an hour, the washer was loud, and the biggest complaint was not enough water to get your clothes clean, then I met several people who own speed queen with nothing but good to say about them, they are more expensive than the average brand but so worth the money, I've had mine for two months now, and love every thing about them, wish I would have bought them sooner, 100% SATISFIED

Washer is Fine, the Dryer is a lemon
Five years after ordering this the washer hasn’t given me any trouble so no complaints there. However, the dryer from the get go didn’t dry very well and over the past 5 years I’ve had to replace the heating element, drum felt seal, and rollers adding in another 300$ plus a lot of wasted time and effort.

Decent washer & dryer set.
Thank goodness for the warranty, I did have issues with the washer within the first year. Speed queen took care of the repairs so I can’t be too mad. The water pump went out & burned out a belt. I do feel like the machines offer a powerful clean in a simple package. Which is what I wanted. Hopefully I don’t have any more issues, and can enjoy the set as I hoped I would - for many, many stress free years.

Won’t have to work on these appliances.
Wish it didn’t have a lid lock.

Poorly Engineered All Around
I’ll admit I just drank the kool-aid without knowing all the facts, that is on me. These unimaginably poorly designed machines are on the manufacturer. Let’s start with the washer. You cannot lift the lid once the cycle starts. I don’t mean the spin cycle, I mean when you press the button to start the cycle. Don’t you DARE ever forget to toss an item in there for the next 25 years because you will have no option to do so. A hack I found on you tube users a magnet to partially override this ridiculous function, but you still can’t open it after the tub fills and the agitator starts. Here’s the best one…if you forget to close the lid after the tub fills, the washer just stops and sits there like a moron. You have to empty the tub and start again. All that soap and water wasted and into my septic tank. I’ve had to literally reset the breaker to get the machine to reset itself to start the load again. A shameless, respectless waste of my time. There is no indicator that the load has gone off balance other than blinking lights. Don’t leave the laundry room! You might come back to an unbalanced load sitting there like a moron. The soap dispenser in the middle of the agitator?? Why? What is the benefit? What was wrong with the way it’s been done for the last 50 years? Nothing! This smacks of someone trying to justify their job by over-thinking an already solved problem. Now the dryer. It is almost 100% impossible to open the dryer door without clothes falling into the ridiculously placed lint screen. Was that lint screen in the upper right top of every other dryer I’ve ever seen in my life no good? Was that too easy? Did it make too much sense? Just about every load I do, unless I am SUPER quick and careful, I have to pick the lint off the clothes that fell into the lint screen. So I have to clean my clean my clothes that just came out of the dryer. Pathetic! There is no option to enable an audio alarm when the cycle ends, like every other dryer I have ever seen. Better get an egg timer because $1,800 does not include a friggin’ buzzer!!I am an engineer too. A network engineer. I’ve come up with some pretty crappy, over thought, inefficient designs too. But I have a manager that says…hey dude…that’s stupid and here’s why. Apparently, there is none of that going on at SpeedQueen/Alliance. So now I have two HIGHLY DURABLE machines that I’ll have to suffer through for the next 23 years if I don’t get irritated and heartless enough to sell them to some poor fool. If it does not last that long, I’ll come and change this to 1 star. Worst purchase of my life!
